The Rear Drum Bearing Kit is an OEM replacement part for GE dryers. It is a comprehensive kit that includes both rear drum bearings and necessary mounting hardware. These bearings play a vital role in smoothly rotating the dryer drum during cycles, reducing vibrations and noise.

Symptoms of bad bearings include:

  • Excessive shaking or vibrating during cycles
  • Loud grinding or scraping noises emanating from the rear drum area
  • Difficulty turning or rotating the dryer drum by hand
  • Increased wear and early failure of other components

Causes of bad bearings can include normal wear and tear over time, exposure to excessive loads or unbalanced loads that strained the bearings, or damage from extended use without proper lubrication.

This OEM replacement is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Carl. Check and make sure the element has not broke and is rubbing against the back of the drum. If not, then check the rear bearing on the drum WE25M40.

What purpose does the "ground strap" serve in the rear drum bearing replacement kit. When I look through the existing bearing retainer while it is still installed in the dryer the ground strap is visible and it has a hole in it . I suppose the the pointed end of the bearing shaft did this. Is it supposed to contact the ground strap? If not could this be what was causing my squeaking noise ? I understand how to install everything but just trying to understand it's purpose and if necessary to replace it. I had ordered the bearing sleeve and o ring before I realized this.

1 Answer

Mark, The ground strap should have a hole in it and it is for grounding the drum of the unit.

Bleepingdryers, The bearing is a bushing sleeve type part and not the standard ball with inner and outer race. This is what the manufacturer calls them and would be the most common part needed for the squeaking.
