Albert June 07, 2023 for Model Number GE CFE29TSDCSS my refrigerator was working fine except I noticed that the upper part of my refrigerator did not seem to be the proper temperature. After doing so research I changed the evaporator which was not working. Now the fan is working put my refrigerator and freezer are 70 degrees. Everything is working except there is no cooling. help!
1 Answer ALBERT, You will need to determine what is running i.e. ...... compressor and fans. If everything is running and there is no cooling then you will likely have a sealed system Issue and would need an EPA-Certified tech for those repairs. If the fans are running and the compressor is not then you could have a control board issue. Read More...

Mark July 13, 2020 for Model Number gsh25jsdd ss My water line is freezing up. I tried an aftermarket heater strip but I don't think the heating circuit is working, no voltage. Is the main board most likely at fault?
1 Answer Mark, if the heater strip WR49X10173 (All metal liner SxS production built January 2003 through January 2007 serial numbers AF through AM) was installed and the water dispenser tubing in the door is still freezing, the failure would not be in the main control. This would indicate that the water line is close to the inner panel of the freezer door and the only correction at this point would be replacing the door assembly WR78X11096. The heater strip receives the voltage supply from the dispenser control wires, so if the dispenser is working, the heater should be as well. Read More...
Skip March 26, 2020 for Model Number GSE22ETHBCC Help. Freezer not defrosting. Repair guy replaced evap thermister. Still froze over. I replaced heating element, thermostat, and circuit board. Still no defrost cycle as evap coils will frost over within a week. Only thermister i haven't replaced is the freezer lower unit, but I checked with an ohm meter and it read 16K. Whats next? How can i test the board to make sure it is cycling. I'm good with a multimeter.
1 Answer Skip, The lower thermistor should not have anything to do with the unit not defrosting and it would be recommended to check at the main control board to see if the evaporator thermistor is reading the correct resistance. The thermistor sitting on the evaporator coils should have a resistance reading of approximately 42.2K ohms of resistance. Either the thermistor being faulty or the wiring between the thermistor and the control board being faulty would likely cause this issue. Read More...
Mike November 24, 2015 for Model Number gss20gewrww Hello, fan motor in freezer was making a noise. I had the fan motor replaced. The connector for the motor wasn't plugged in securely. After re positioning the plug correctly, the digital temp display does not work and the refrigerator will not come on. the lights inside work but nothing else. the ice and water dispenser does not work either. The refrigerator was working until the motor was replaced. Any idea as to what happened?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Try unplugging the unit and resetting it. If the issue continues, you will need to replace the main control board on the unit. Read More...
Randy W. January 01, 2014 for Model Number gss20gewg bb What controls the defrost cycle? I cannot not find the defrost timer. The freezer iced up and the unit is not cooling. I don't know if it's the defrost thermostat, element, or timer. The unit is not going into defrost. The drain is open. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Randy, The defrost on this unit is electronically controlled. The "motherboard" WR55X10942C is the part that controls the defrost cycle. Read More...
