This electronic control board manages your refrigerator's key systems—compressor, fans, and defrost. When the original board fails, you may see warm temperatures or erratic behavior; replacing it restores stable cooling and proper defrosting.

  • Regulates compressor and fan operation to maintain set temperatures
  • Controls adaptive defrost timing and energizes the defrost heater
  • Distributes power to critical loads and processes sensor inputs
  • Helps with: no cooling or intermittent cooling, compressor/fans not running, heavy frost from no defrost, or unresponsive/erratic controls
What's included: 1 main control board Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; risk of electric shock
  • Use ESD protection; handle the board by the edges only
  • Photograph and label connectors; transfer wires exactly and fully seat each plug
  • After installation, restore power and follow any model-specific service sheet/configuration steps provided with the appliance

ALBERT, You will need to determine what is running i.e. ...... compressor and fans. If everything is running and there is no cooling then you will likely have a sealed system Issue and would need an EPA-Certified tech for those repairs. If the fans are running and the compressor is not then you could have a control board issue.

Mark, if the heater strip WR49X10173 (All metal liner SxS production built January 2003 through January 2007 serial numbers AF through AM) was installed and the water dispenser tubing in the door is still freezing, the failure would not be in the main control. This would indicate that the water line is close to the inner panel of the freezer door and the only correction at this point would be replacing the door assembly WR78X11096. The heater strip receives the voltage supply from the dispenser control wires, so if the dispenser is working, the heater should be as well.

Skip, The lower thermistor should not have anything to do with the unit not defrosting and it would be recommended to check at the main control board to see if the evaporator thermistor is reading the correct resistance. The thermistor sitting on the evaporator coils should have a resistance reading of approximately 42.2K ohms of resistance. Either the thermistor being faulty or the wiring between the thermistor and the control board being faulty would likely cause this issue.
