Note: This is the complete solenoid assembly kit. For armature & linkage assembly only, use WD1X1316.

The Solenoid Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It plays a crucial role in controlling the flow of water into the dishwasher by activating or deactivating the drain valve. This assembly is essential for ensuring that the dishwasher fills and drains at the correct times during the wash cycle, which is pivotal for the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the appliance.

Common causes for a Solenoid Assembly to fail include wear and tear over time, mineral buildup from hard water, or electrical failures that prevent the solenoid from operating as intended.

Symptoms of a bad Solenoid Assembly include:

  • Failure of the dishwasher to drain properly, leading to water accumulation at the bottom.
  • The dishwasher not filling with water as it should, affecting the cleaning process.
  • Unusual noises coming from the dishwasher, which may indicate the solenoid is failing to engage or disengage correctly.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

For Ge Solenoid Assembly (Part Number: OEM6119223)

Hans for Model Number GSD2200G00WW

Hi, I have a GE Nautilus dish washer that fills with water and starts operating but then drains again, leaving not enough water for the arms to turn. The float switch is operating fine, I tested the fill cycle while holding it down manually. I am suspecting that it might be the timer switch, since I have the following timing pattern: water starts filling and I start hearing the spray arm turning, at 15 seconds drain opens for the first time (fill valve still open), at 25 seconds drain valve closes (fill valve still open - I can hear water going in), at 39 seconds drain valve opens for the second time, 3 seconds or so later fill valve closes, a few seconds later drain valve closes but it drained out enough water for the spray arms to stop. The timing pattern is the same from the Start as well as from the Rinse position. I am 100% sure that it's not the float switch opening, since I tested the fill cycle while holding the switch down manually. There is a little bit of leakage coming off the drain valve shaft when it's draining, but that might be a separate problem. There is some corrosion on the drain valve solenoid, but it seems to open and close fine. I am basically trying to figure out whether I should try to replace the timer first, or whether replacing the pump assembly might fix this, or both. Any help much appreciated.

Hans, Were it a timer issue, we would expect you to hear the drain valve solenoid engage, it can be pretty loud. A problem with the drain valve flapper inside the pump, or an improper install, could cause the dishwasher to fill and drain at the same time. You may want to remove the kick plate and lower access panel, and observe the drain solenoid WD21X10060 to see if it is being energized, electrically, from the timer, while the machine is filling with water.

Kayla, If you're sure the deposits are on the top portion and the sides of the Drain Solenoid, this is an indication that the drain valve shaft seal has failed and is leaking. Your best bet would be to replace the pump/motor assembly WD26X10013 Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Jack. When the unit is in drain mode, you can check and see if the solenoid assembly WD21X10060 is pulling the arm down and opening the drain flap. Hope this helps.

Hi Will. Remove all power. The inside float stem connects to the float switch below the tub. This turns on/off a water valve. This float is part # WD12X335. The switch is part # WD21X479. Take the toe kick panel off and these parts are on the rt. side/front area. Thank you.

Hello Hemant. You will need to check and see if the solenoid assembly WD21X10060 is closing all the way. If not, you will need to replace the solenoid assembly. Also check and make sure the disposal is not backing up due to a clog in the drain pipe. Hope this helps.

Hello Robert. It sounds like the water valve may be bad. Check and make sure the float inside the tub is not sticking. You will need to remove the dome cover to check this. If it moves freely up and down, then you will need to replace the water valve WD15X93. Hope this helps.

Hello Don. If you can turn the dishwasher off and stop the water, then you will need to replace the float switch WD21X479. If you have to turn the water off to stop the water from coming in, then you will need to replace the water valve WD15X10003. Hope this helps.
