Felix November 23, 2020 for Model Number PVM9179SF1SS The microwave does not produce heat on conventional mode. Everything else is working
1 Answer Felix, You will want to test the door switches to ensure that they are good. If the switches are good then test the magnetron for a resistance of less than 1 ohm. If this checks ok then test the thermostats in the unit for continuity as one could have gone bad. Read More...
Steve August 13, 2020 for Model Number JVM1631WJ03 GE Spacesaver over range microwave. Quit working while cooking. Completely blinked out, control panel, time, everything dead. Tested front thermostat behind the control panel and it tested bad (no continuity). Would a thermostat kill the display/time etc as well or only cooking operation? Can I bridge these two wires to test that it restores display panel operation to confirm is ONLY thermostat that's bad? There are two thermostats inside, and two listed for sale, neither in my unit have anything close to MFG # on it, how do I determine which one it is?
1 Answer Hello Steve, the 2 thermostats behind the control panel (one shows continuity, one does not, are correct) the open thermostat is used for powering the vent motor independent of the control should the MW underside get hot, at this point, you would need to uninstall the microwave, remove the outer case and check the 20 amp fuse on the noise filter board and the cavity thermostat mounted under the outer case on top of the oven cavity on the left side about the middle. Since the MW went dead in mid-use those are the parts to check. Read More...
Bob D February 28, 2020 for Model Number JVM1640WJ03 Should the middle switch on the microwave show continuity with door open or closed. if it should NOT SHOW CONTINUTIY w/door closed can I disconnect one terminal create a closed circuit and test?
1 Answer Bob, With the door in the closed position, the center switch should show continuity. Read More...
Bob D February 28, 2020 for Model Number JVM1640WJ03 Microwave does not heat. all other functions working. 2 Thermostats check good. The front/3rd thermostat WB27X11034 show no continuity. Checked 3 switches. Top switch and bottom switches have continuity w/door CLOSED. middle switch has continuity w/DOOR OPEN and CLOSED. My guess is the middle switch is bad keeping the microwave from heating. Your Thoughts
1 Answer Bob, With the center door switch showing continuity open or closed then the switch will be faulty and need to be replaced. Read More...
Curt December 01, 2019 for Model Number CVM1790SS2SS Microwave just quit. Display and timer work. For the last couple of days, the vent fan came on every time we opened the door. Today, my wife heated up some water for a cup of tea and that was the last time we were able to cook anything in it. What is the most likely problem?
1 Answer Hello Curt, one or more of the door switches have failed. These can be tested using a multimeter after unplugging the microwave from power and accessing the switches. The manufacturer supplies the switches/cam and bracket as an assembly, part WB10X35397. Read More...
Abe August 22, 2019 for Model Number cvm1790ss2ss which of these parts wb27x11034 and wb20x10048 is the vent hood thermostat; because I replaced the the wb27x11034(part from part supplier) but when connect power to device fan is continuously on and the fan controller also works. But fan should be off during cold start.
1 Answer Abe, The vent hood thermostat should have an "open" circuit at room temp. and two pink wires attached to it WB27X11034 / WB27X11034 thermostat plate. The bottom TCO should have a "closed" circuit at all times and a black wire and a red wire attached to it WB20X10048 / WB20X10048 160 dgr. thermostat/fuse. The WB27X11034 should be the correct thermostat to order for the exhaust vent motor. Read More...
Joe May 24, 2019 for Model Number pvm9179df1bb I got no power on my microwave. Replaced 1 thermostat but still nothing, what else could I test/look for?
1 Answer Hello Joe, you can test the fuse on part number WB02X35865. This noise filter is located on the power cord right before it connects to the board. Thanks! Read More...
Parminder G December 02, 2018 for Model Number PVM1790SR1SS My microwave shutdown completely while baking. The fuse is good. I checked all thermostat. All but one thermostat is showing "no continuity". Is this thermostat (OEM Part # WB27X11034) supposed to show no continuity. Any other suggestion for this "dead" microwave.
1 Answer Parminder, There is one thermostat located behind the control panel that will show open for continuity. Check the door switches on the unit as this would be the most likely issue. If the door switches are good then this will most likely be an issue with the main control board. Read More...
Repair July 11, 2018 for Model Number PVM9179DF1WW Hi, For which thermostat is this? I'm looking for the one located on the top left of the unit (that is supposed to be closed circuit). Is this the correct one?
1 Answer Repair, the cavity thermostat is the main part that will open up it there is excessive heat in the oven cavity it will open up and shut everything down. Check to see if it is open or closed. It is located on the upper left side of the microwave, and you will need to take the unit down. The part number of the thermostat is WB20X10052][ Read More...
Repair June 19, 2018 for Model Number PVM9179DF1WW Hi, Does this part suppose to have continuity or it is a open circuit?
1 Answer Repair, There are two thermostats mounted side by side on the bottom plate The thermostat on the right, with the pink wires attached to it will be the vent hood thermostat and will have an open circuit. If/when the bottom of the microwave gets hot, the thermostat closes and supplies power to the vent fan motor to cool the interior and control components. The thermostat on the left with the black/red black wires attached to it is the hood TCO, it should have a closed circuit. if the bottom of the microwave or interior get's too hot the thermostat will open and eliminate power to the control board and other components and the microwave will be inoperative,"dead" until the thermostat cools down and resets to a closed circuit.
