This thermostat switch is a temperature-sensitive safety device used in select appliances to open or close an electrical circuit at a set temperature. Replacing a failed switch helps restore proper temperature control and protects components from overheating.

  • Monitors temperature and changes state (open/closed) at its calibration point
  • Helps prevent overheating or incorrect temperature regulation
  • Common failure signs: no heat/overheating, intermittent cycling, or unit shutting off prematurely
  • May be mounted to a bracket or surface near the heated area, depending on the model
What's included: 1 thermostat switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; verify no voltage is present
  • Note wire positions and orientation of the original switch before removal
  • Transfer any mounting hardware from the old part if not reusable
  • After installation, test operation and observe initial heating cycle for proper function

Questions & Answers

For Ge Thermostat Switch (Part Number: OEM6077043)

1 Answer

Hello Eric, Vent Thermostat. This thermostat is normally open and closes if the area gets hot to automatically run the vent fan. The temps for close/open are stamped into the thermostat in Celsius (70/40).

Satish, With the display not turning on and the fuses being good, check to make sure that there is 120 Vac going to the board. If there is then this will be a faulty control board that will need to be replaced.

Satish, With the fan continuously running, this would either be one of the thermostats behind the control panel being faulty or the relay on the control board is bad and will need to replace the control board.

Jeff, Check the door switches to make sure that they are good and if they are then this will most likely be an issue with the control board.

Jim, the bottom right thermal cut-off WB21X10162 behind the control, the magnetron thermal cut-off WB20X10061, and the noise filter WB02X11200 would need to be tested for continuity when the power supply cord is unplugged from the outlet. These three items should have continuity when tested. If not, the failed part would need to be replaced. If they have continuity, it would be likely that the main control WB27X11080 has failed.

Sammy for Model Number JVM7195SK1SS GE Microwave

I have a GE microwave less than two years old, the power in my town went out and then when it came back on my Microwave didn't work AT ALL ! no lights on the the display NOTING, I checked the house breaker box and the outlets and they all have electricity and working fine, inside the microwave all fuses checked out okay, the only question is the thermo switch (WB27X709) doesn't have continuity in it, is that an open or closed circuit? and if thats not the problem what else am I looking at? I just hope it's not the board. Thanks

1 Answer

Hello Sammy, that thermostat is normally open at room temperature , it closes on temperature rise to power the exhaust blower independently of the control board to protect the underside/door/control panel of the microwave. Unfortunately, the control board which is always on as long as the microwave is plugged in to power may have been damaged by the possible power spike/surge on the mains power coming back on, the control board is part WB27X30632.

Tom for Model Number JVM6175DF1WW

My microwave was having intermittent power on/power off problems. Main fuse is OK. I could sometimes get it to power back on by opening and shutting the door which lead me to believe the problem was the the door switches. Now no power at all. I tested the switches according to instructions I found online and they check out OK so, I moved on to the fuses mounted on the bottom behind the panel. The fuse on the left (I'm not sure if that is a termostat) has no continuity, the one on the right has continuity, next I checked the fuse on top of the magnetron, it has continuity. Could the fuse/thermostat with no continuity which is marked ksd-40lc 70 be the problem, if not, any idea where to go next?

1 Answer

Tom, the left thermostat on this model is going to read normally open for continuity until it reaches a certain temperature as it is used to automatically turn the blower vent on to protect the controls. Based on the information provided, it would be recommended that the main control WB27X11080 is tested for 120VAC to identify if it is receiving proper voltage. If it is, then it has failed and would need to be replaced.
