This temperature switch mounts in the dryer control panel and lets you select the desired heat level. Replacing a failed switch restores accurate temperature selection so the dryer responds properly to the setting you choose.

  • Selects the heat level for drying cycles
  • Routes power through the appropriate heating circuit based on your selection
  • Failure symptoms include no change in temperature when turning the knob, being stuck on one heat level, intermittent heat, or a loose/stripped switch shaft
  • An internal short or open may contribute to a no-heat condition while the drum still runs
Includes: 1 temperature selector switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; for gas dryers, also shut off the gas supply
  • Remove the control knob and open the control console/back cover to access the switch
  • Note wire positions; transfer connectors to the new switch one at a time to avoid miswiring
  • Mount the new switch securely, reassemble the console, reinstall the knob, and test heat selection

Questions & Answers

For Ge Temperature Switch (Dryer) (Part Number: OEM13038249)

1 Answer

Don, with the power cord unplugged, the heating element WE11M23 would need to be tested for continuity to the tub and the element element housing. If there is continuity, the element would need to be replaced. If there is not continuity, the temperature selector WE4M406 would need to be tested for continuity from terminal 7 to terminal 8, and terminal 7 to terminal 6 when it is set to low temp. If there is not continuity, the temperature selector has failed.

Glenn, That button can be tested for continuity. Other than that you have to make sure door switch is not broke or failed, the voltage needs to be 240 vac at the terminal block. If all these test good you will need to check the all thermostats and fuses on the rear heater assembly for continuity. You can also open the door and hold the door switch press start and turn the drum by hand if it starts your motor needs replaced.

Bill, You will need to check the fuse on the blower housing to make sure that it is good. If this is good then test the door switch to make sure that it is good. These would be the most likely causes for the unit not running.
