The Control Valve Assembly is an OEM replacement part for GE ranges. It plays a key role in regulating gas flow within the oven burners to provide consistent, even heating across various temperature settings. The control valve monitors and controls gas pressure to the oven burners during baking and broiling functions.

Causes of a faulty control valve can include grime or debris deposit buildup on the valve or its components over time, wear and tear on seals from regular oven use, or damage to internal valve parts.

Symptoms of a bad control valve assembly include:

  • Inaccurate or fluctuating oven temperatures
  • Uneven or inconsistent baking and cooking results
  • Failure or inability to ignite the oven burners
  • Gas leaks near the control valve or burner areas

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Jeffery, you'll want to flip the cap on your pressure regulator to reflect LP and tighten down your orifice two and half turns down. This should convert your oven over to LP. If you have any questions or need help with the conversion, please give us a call at 877-477-7278, thanks!

Jimg for Model Number RGB745WEA2WW

While diagnosing whether the ignitor was weak or the safety valve was bad, I disassembled the safety valve before discovering it was failing because it was full of water (duh!). I had measured 2.8volts and 2.4amps, so the result was a big maybe. I removed the orifice from the safety valve outlet without realizing it might be a critical adjustment. After baking out the water, everything is working ok but the flame is very yellow. The air tube is fully open, but maybe I didn't get the orifice height back where it wants to be? This oven is in an outdoor kitchen in a very isolated area, where I'm not likely to get a service call, so please don't say "call an expert". I'm doing this as a favor for a non-profit youth camp. Thx in advance!

Hello Jim. It sounds like the gas valve has failed and will need to be replaced on the unit. I would also suggest checking the regulator if your sure the gas valve is not the issue.

Hello Tom. You will need to remove the cap on the regulator and flip it to LP. Then tighten the orifice down until it bottom out. Then loosen the orifice 1 and 1/2 turns. Next adjust until the flame is blue.

Hello Vincent, This is definitely going to be the oven safety valve WB19K31. Turn the gas and power off to that unit until you get it fixed to prevent unsafe conditions.

Steve, The output amperage from the igniter should be 3.2 to 3.6 amps. If there is only 2.66 amps then this would indicate a igniter that is weak and would need to be replaced.

Tina, you also have to adjust the bake burner orifice hood. Use a 1/2 inch open end wrench and turn the orifice hood clockwise two to three revolutions to lower the hood down onto the internal LP pin in the valve.

Sherry, You will want to check the burners to make sure that there is no clogging or rust around the ports. Also check the orifices to ensure that they are not plugged up. If these check ok then it sounds like the issue with the unit would be the control valve assembly WB19K10044.
