Melody June 26, 2012 for Model Number GE JGBP28DEL3WH Our gas burners on top work, but the oven and broiler will not come on. We checked the shut off in bottom drawer and it appears to be open - What do we need to replace?
1 Answer Hi Melody. Check the oven sensor part # WB21X5301 for 1100ohms. If it is open then it will not allow the controls to work. Are there any fault codes showing? Can you command bake and broil temperature ranges as the clock works well? Is the clock fully lit up ? Make sure you have 120 vac on the red wire at the K-1 Broil relay and the K-2 Bake relay. GE GAS (ROUND) IGNITER / VALVE ; Test for 2.6-3.0 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. Part # WB19K10051. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can use a ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to aid you in this. You will read between 50 - 250 ohms on a cold igniter. Thank You. Read More...
Mark June 09, 2012 for Model Number JGBS23BEA6WH I was about to change my ignitor in my oven when I noticed a hole in the plastic cap on the valve control. Is it ok to use the oven with this hole or do I need to replace the cap. Thanks for your time.
1 Answer Hello Mark, The plastic cap on the safety valve is a dust cover only. There should be absolutely no problem with a hole in it because you can actually remove it and the unit will operate safely and normally. Read More...
Jerry February 28, 2012 for Model Number rgb79oseh2sa Why is the regulator and gas safety valve sold together when all I need is the leaking regulator? I have worked for a gas co. for 30 years.
1 Answer Jerry, the manufacturer does not offer the regulator separate from the valve and only offer it as an assembly WB19K10051. When the manufacturer offers parts together as a kit or a whole part it is usually recommended to replace both parts at the same time. Thanks! Read More...
