Andrew W. October 12, 2017 for Model Number JGP389BEV1BB I ordered 4 new gas valves, left and right. Reviewing Q&A I've read you need unscrew the valves from the underside of the mainfold(the round disc #8) My question, how do you access the underside of the manifold? Looking at the underside of the cooktop, I see multiple sheet metal screws, Part #10 connected to part #8, but no clear path. Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Hello Andrew. You will remove those screws and remove the burner box to access the screws. You uninstall the cooktop to do this repair. Thanks. Read More...
Tim September 23, 2015 for Model Number JGP389BEV4BB Ok, 3 of the knobs will not turn, does this indicate bad valves or another issue? Before I buy parts I want to make sure I am getting the right one.
1 Answer Hello Tim. Make sure the knobs are good. If so, it indicates the valve will need to be replaced. Read More...
Jim J November 10, 2011 for Model Number GE PROFILE COOK TOP Do you need to detach the gasline to free up the manifold to access the burner valve mounting screw.
1 Answer Jim, Sometimes it helps, but No, you don't have to disconnect the gas line from the regulator or manifold. You do have to make sure you SHUT OFF the gas supply at the wall connection or meter. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Sjpanz September 27, 2011 for Model Number JGP979BEF1BB How do you remove this valve from the manifold? I saw and removed the nut attaching the tubing to the valve, but the valve itself sits very firmly on the manifold and appears difficult to pull or twist out. HELP
1 Answer SJ, Once you disconnect the burner valve gas supply tube from the burner valve, you will need to remove the bolt and gasket from the bottom side of the manifold(the round disc with all the burner valves attached to it), then you should be able to lift the valve body straight up and out of the manifold. You may need to "rock" the valve side to side to break the valve gasket loose, but Do Not Attempt to twist it, you may cause more damage. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Joe P. September 24, 2011 for Model Number JGP979BEF1BB How do I remove valve from manifold after I unscrew connection to gas line?
1 Answer Hi Joe. Loosen the 5/16" screw on the back of the manifold. Make sure you tighten the new screw/gasket supplied with the valve. This will compress the gasket for safety. Use locktite on the screw to assure screw will not back out over time and vibrations. The part #is WB21X5323. Loctite is part # F8283401.Thank you. Read More...
1 Answer Hello. This valve attaches to the manifold. You will unscrew your old one, and screw in the new one. Be sure and check for leaks. Thanks. Read More...
