For Ge Refrigerator Water Tank Dispenser Reservoir (Part Number: OEM6199179)

1 Answer

Trying, The water tank for your unit is part number WR17X4358 and the water tubing would be coming from the tank if it is a 5/16" line. If it is a 1/4" line then it is the icemaker line.

Trying, Yes the water tank would need to be replaced. There are no instructions that would be available for replacing the water tank. To replace the water tank, You would need to remove the crisper shelve and bins. Once you remove the bins and shelves, pull the kickplate off and disconnect the water tubing at the bottom of the freezer door and pull unit out and disconnect the tubing from the valve. Once disconnected you can pull the reservoir out of the unit. The lines come out of the unit just behind where the valve is. Install the new one and pay attention to where the tubing for the dispenser runs through.

Hello Stu, The ice maker does not connect to the water reservoir. The line comes under the unit to the water connection at the door hinge.

Hello Bryan, If your water valve is threaded then you will need to use the fitting that was on the old tubing to connect the water line.

Hello Joe, Two questions: Did you turn the water back on? Do you hear the water valve energize when the water dispense button is depressed? If yes to both questions, you should check the water filter. If no to the second question, you should check for an electrical problem at the valve, the door hinge, or at the dispenser button. If no to the first question, turn the water on.

Hello Rod, The first thing that you want to do is to make sure that your filter MWFP has been changed. Also check to make sure that the water has been flushed good. The water tank WR17X4358 could make the water taste bad but in general it has no way to cause this as the tank is made of plastic and do not give odor or taste.

Hello Mary. You need to remove the tube from the filter housing and the bottom of the door on the freezer door. You can not remove the lines from the water tank. You will need to order the water tank WR17X4358 and replace the tank. You can not replace just the lines.

Gargamel for Model Number TFX22CRXA-AA - GE frig

Model Number: TFX22CRXA-AA Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years. Hi there! Dustin (?) from your main phone number asked me to post this question here (?, or on the forum - I posted there and haven't heard back). Hope you can help! I ordered and rec'd a replacement water tank (with tubes) for leaky original - tank had leak, tubes were fine. Order # 2147344 Part # AP2066390 Got the new tank installed but not sure how to reconnect the tubes. The replacement tank that was sent is exactly as the picture on your site: tank with 2 tubes that just cut off (no connecter on the ends). At the end of the original tank tubes, there was a screw-on connector that joins tank tubes to main & freezer door tubes. I thought I could just cut original connectors off and reuse on the new tubes BUT, the new tubes are completely straight/smooth - not like the original tube endings that had a grooved notch & raised "stopper" ring that keeps the connector stable on the tube. The new tubes i rec'd have two black lines market on it but that is it - no groove/stopper. I'm afraid if I install this "as is" with no "catch" the water pressure will force out the tube when I turn the water back on. There were no instructions with this tank. Today, I went to a plumbing supply house, talked to appliance repair center, spent 1 hour on phone with GE and nobody knows what i should do. Please advise and thanks so much!! Lori

Hi Gargamel. I understand the water tank hose ends are cut squarely as the new styles are. They replaced the union(compression) Style connector you described. You will need to use push on connectors that have floating garter ring connectors hanging from each side . IMPERATIVE to cut each opposing hose exactly square as the new hose is. As the hose is pushed tight in the new connector ( John Guess ) type The inner garter ring will grab and compress the hose as needed. 5/16" to 5/16" connector is part # WR02X11330. 1/4" to 5/16" connector is part # WP4373559. Let us know if we can assist further. Thank You.
