Mike January 25, 2016 for Model Number pfss6pkxass Recently water dispenser almost no flow, plus ice cubes are about half size. can hear mechanical sound when pressing on water dispenser handle. what's up?
1 Answer Hello Mike. You need to check and see if the water filter is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. If not, then you will need to replace the water valve on the unit. Read More...
Dan G March 23, 2012 for Model Number PFSS6PKWASS GE Profile fridge--Model PFSS6PKWASS Ice maker has stopped--installed new filter--pressure is good for water dispenser but still no ice or water in the icemaker-- took off water valve and blew thru both lines to make sure icemaker was not froze up--lines seem to be clear of any obstruction--Do you think the chances are that it is a bad solenoid/water valve??
1 Answer Dan, You're on the right track, The fill valve is the most likely issue, based on your post. If you have access to a multi meter, you can check voltage to the icemaker solenoid, from the icemaker to verify the icemaker control is working and the wiring is in tact. Linda D. February 17, 2012 for Model Number PFSF6PKXBBB - GE Refrigerator Our refrigerator was purchased new in 2009 and a couple of months ago the water dispenser stopped working. Yesterday we purchased the double water valve shown above. We received the part today and after watching your U Tube video on installation, my husband installed the part. Prior to installing this part we replaced the water filter. At this point we are not sure what is wrong. We removed the new water filter and replaced it with the plug that came with the unit. After that we began getting a small stream of water. We can hear the humming while we tried to purge the line (approx. 2 min). He has rechecked all the connections. Power is connected and water is turned on. The water that is coming out is clear and very cold, but as I said, it is a very light stream - not at all the way it should be.
1 Answer Hello Linda. The first thing I would suggest is to turn off the water to the water valve you just replaced. Remove the water supply line and put it in a bucket or a plastic trash can. Turn the water on and check to see that you have good water pressure to the valve. If there is good water pressure, since you said after you removed the filter you started getting some water, I would make sure the water reservoir WR17X12739 and connecting lines are not frozen. This unit has a reservoir heater that could have failed. If the lines are partially frozen the water pressure could be having to "bleed" past the restriction of ice blockage. Of course there is always the possibility of the new valve not opening completely. I certainly hope I've given you some information that will help you solve your problem! Read More...
