The Water Filter Bypass is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is used when you choose not to use a water filter in your refrigerator. This bypass plug allows water to flow directly to the dispenser and ice maker without being filtered, ensuring continuous operation even when a filter is not installed.

Causes of a bad water filter bypass can include damage to the bypass plug, clogging from debris, or wear and tear over time. If the bypass plug is not functioning properly, it can disrupt the water flow and lead to issues with the ice maker and water dispenser.

Symptoms of a bad water filter bypass include:

  • Reduced water flow or no water flow to the dispenser
  • Ice maker not producing ice
  • Water leaks around the bypass plug area

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

Ruthie, There is no bypass plug listed for this model number. If you can remove the filter and still get water at the door dispenser, then a bypass plug is not needed. If the issue persists check the water pressure at the water valve connection" between 40 and 120 psi on models with a water filter" and check the water supply tubing for kinks and twists. Thanks,
