The Ice Maker Cooling Fan Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG refrigerators. The purpose of this component is to circulate the air that goes into the ice compartment so that the water freezes in the ice maker to make the ice. It also runs intermittently to ensure the ice that has been made remains frozen.

Causes of a bad cooling fan assembly can include failure of the electric motor or fan blade over time due to prolonged use. Bearing wear is also common with extended operation of moving parts like the fan blade.

Symptoms of a bad cooling fan assembly include:

  • Inconsistent or infrequent ice production
  • Warm spots developing within the freezer compartment
  • Vibrations, rubbing, or grinding noises from the fan motor area
  • Inefficient freezing of items stored in the freezer

Replace yours today with this genuine OEM LG cooling fan assembly to restore optimized temperature control.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerators.

Morgan, the ice maker fan EAU63503706 can be tested for 7-12 DC voltage to identify if it is receiving voltage. This also will assist in identifying if the fan operates when it receives voltage. This would be done with the freezer door switch activated so that the main control will send voltage out.

Mike, If the fan doesn't run it will build ice up on the coils. Replace the fan if it doesn't function but has required voltage.

Pete for Model Number LMXS28626S/00

Ice Maker not dropping ice. reset the ice maker a dozen times. manual test works fine, water fills, Ice freezes, but will not drop until I press the manual test button. Ice compartment temp is 25 deg, I have read that the ice will not drop unless the temp is below 9 deg. ThinQ diagnosis says all components check as good. I suspect the fan in the freezer is not operating, is there a way to manually test the ice maker fan without disassembling the entire freezer? just dont want to buy a new fan only to find out it's the control board. Any suggestions?

Pete, the ice maker cooling fan can be tested from the main control at the connection CON7. With one meter probe set to the red/yellow wire at pin 5, there should be a 12 VDC reading when the second probe is placed on the yellow/black wire at pin 3. If there is 12 VDC, the fan motor ABA74248410 has failed.

John, it would be recommended that the flapper door is inspected where the ice is dispensed from. If there is a gap that can allow air to pass through, the air will cause the ice to block up together in the ice bin. If this is occurring, the mounting bracket and springs of the flapper will need to be inspected to identify if either have broken. If not, the flapper motor would likely be the failure. To ensure the most accurate part information can be provided, the revision number would be necessary.
