The Pump Filter Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG washing machines. It is a crucial component that filters out lint, debris, and other particles from the wash water, preventing them from recirculating and damaging the pump or other internal components.

Symptoms of a need to replace the pump filter assembly:

  • Clogging or blockages, leading to poor drainage or water not draining completely
  • Excessive buildup of lint, hair, or other debris in the filter screen
  • Leaks or water seeping from the filter housing or surrounding area
  •  Unusual noises or vibrations during the drain or spin cycles, indicating a potential blockage

Causes of a faulty pump filter assembly can include excessive lint accumulation, damage to the filter screen or housing due to impact or mishandling, and general wear and tear over time.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore washing machines.

Clara, It sounds like the filter is broken. If you are unable to get the filter part out then you will need to replace the pump assembly but would recommend taking the motors off the drain pump and see if there is something that is lodged in there that will cause the filter to not come out.
