The Idler Pulley Assembly is an OEM part for LG dryers. It plays a critical role in the dryer's drum belt tension system, helping to maintain proper tension on the belt so the drum can rotate smoothly during the drying cycle.

Causes of a bad idler pulley assembly can include wear and tear over time, buildup of lint or debris, or damage from an overloaded dryer. A malfunctioning idler pulley can lead to inefficient drying and potential damage to other dryer components.

Symptoms of a bad idler pulley assembly include:

  • Squeaking or squealing noises during operation
  • The drum not rotating properly or at all
  • The dryer stopping mid-cycle
  • The belt slipping or breaking

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

For Lg Idler Pulley Assembly (Part Number: OEM13314738)

Charlie for Model Number DLG2522W

My LG 1SZZEL3001A started making some noise. I ordered the roller kits, drum belt and the idler pulley assembly as these are parts which are potentially causing the problem. After I removed the roller, I didn't really see any obvious broken/bad roller/idler pulley, I went ahead and replaced the drum belt and the idler pulley anyway. I didn't replace any of the rollers as they appear to be ok. But the noise still didn't go away. I opened the dryer up again, and feel the idler pulley has more room to move along the axle than necessary. I suspect that causes more vibration(pure speculation). Also when I put the screw(1SZZEL3001A) in, it cannot be tighened at the end. Is that supposed to be? I understand that the screw is custome made and allows the idler pulley to move around the axle freely. Also, is that possible that the noise is caused by one or more of the rollers even though they are appear to be ok? Thank you

Charlie, This would most likely be a roller issue since the idler pulley and belt have been replaced. Also, check the blower wheel to make sure that the wheel is not damaged in any way.

Tony, the mounting screw 1SZZEL3001A may work, however, for the most accurate information regarding a compatible bolt the model number would be necessary.

Timothy,as a general rule you would replace the pulley assembly 4561EL3002A if the pulley itself is worn out and or noisy. This is due to the fact that the pulley uses a bushing sleeve turning on a shaft that is part of the idler arm bracket, both can be worn,as well as the tension spring can get weak..Also as another general rule a new drum belt can be installed same time .You can inspect the belt for obvious signs of wear/cracking. If you need the drum belt it is 4400EL2001F.

Ed, The manufacturer does not list the shoulder bolt for this unit . You will want to check the rollers for the drum as they will be a likely cause for this noise. issue.

Kenneth, With the drum not turning unless you turn the drum by hand then this will be a motor start winding that is faulty and would need to replace the motor on the unit.

Hello Paul, The idler pulley can move from one side of the idler shaft to the other. This is normal operation. Check the blower housing and spin of the motor with the belt off. Something could be in the blower fan or a bearing could be failing in the motor assembly 4681EL1008A.

Hello Tony. The switch goes under it so that when the belt is installed, it does not make contact with the switch. Then if the belt breaks, it will shut down the unit.
