The Compressor Overload is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It works to prevent damage by automatically shutting off power to the compressor in the event of overheating, helping to extend the life of the compressor.

Causes of a bad compressor overload include normal wear and tear over time, extended use in high-heat conditions, or physical damage that impacts its protective functions.

Symptoms of a bad overload include:

  • The compressor failing to start or run
  • Strange noises coming from the compressor
  • An increase in the refrigerator's operating temperature
  • Frequent and unexpected shut-offs of the compressor

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore refrigerator models.

Questions & Answers

For Lg Compressor Overload (Part Number: OEM17356827)

Mike, You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running and make sure that the evaporator coils are not completely frosted up. If the fan is not running then check to make sure that there is 12 vdc getting to the fan motor and if there is then replace the fan. If the coils are completely frosted up then check to make sure that the defrost thermistor has the proper resistance and if it is good then check the heater and bimetal for continuity. If any are bad then replace them. If they are all good then the control board will be the issue. If the coils have very little frost and just like a little in the corner or a couple of rows down then stops then this will be a sealed system issue and will require service.

Joseph, For this issue, check the evaporator coils to make sure that they have an even full frost pattern. If there is very little frost then you will need to contact an authorized service Provider to repair.
