The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part specific to LG washing machines. It is an electronic solenoid valve located near the water supply inlet ports that controls the flow of water into the washer tub. The inlet valve precisely regulates water levels during different phases like filling, washing, rinsing, and spinning cycles.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include worn or faulty electronic components, mineral buildup obstructing valve movement, or damage to seals and diaphragms.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Inability to properly fill the washer tub during cycles
  • Water leaking or flooding from the valve area
  • Erratic water temperature or varying fill levels between loads
  • Cycles failing to advance due to inadequate or unregulated water flow

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Leo, If none of the hoses are kinked from the valve to dispenser and your water pressure is okay then replace the water valve. [AJU73213301]

Roger, Take the hose off and make sure that the valve is not clogged with debris. If there is no debris then check to see if the valve is getting 120 VAC to the valve. If there is but no water is flowing through then the valve would need to be replaced. The valve part number is 5221EA1008F.

Juliana for Model Number 796294720001

The washing machine keeps showing IE code. It starts to fill then IE code keeps coming up. We have replaced the hoses to the hot water and cold. We have replaced inlet valves. We have replaced the washer switch assembly sensor. Still cannot figure out what’s wrong. I ordered part 5221EA1008F as recommended by SEARS but the problem still persists. Someone recommended part AJU75152601. Is the part that I ordered and this model one recommended the same? They look the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

1 Answer

Juliana, the valve 5221EA1008F is the recommended valve for your model. After the water has been verified as being turned on, the unit can be started and the valve should receive 120VAC. If the valve does not receive 120VAC, and there is no water in the tub, then the main control EBR67466102 would be the likely issue.

Larry, If the cycle is increasing in time while the unit is running then this would most likely be a control issue.

Hello Joe, starting with the basics first check the washer is level on a rigid floor, level legs are locked, next check the tub suspension rods are operating smoothly and evenly, check the inner tub (basket) is centered in the outer tub, not loose or wobbly. The inner tub has a fluid-filled top balance ring that can compensate for most out of balance loads.

Jimmy, Remove power to the washer and move the washer away from the wall enough to get behind it. Remove the two(2) panel fixing screws on the back side of the console. Pull/lay the console forward and remove the rear protective cover, then disconnect the wiring harness from the controls. Remove two(2) pipe fixing screws and three(3) inlet valve mounting screws. Disconnect and label the wire leads from the inlet valve, separate the connector hoses and fill pipe from the inlet valve and remove the valve assembly. Reverse the procedure and check the washer for operation.

Kathleen, " a replacement for the hot water valve" is not available as an individual part. You will need to order and replace the complete inlet valve assembly 5221EA1008F / 5221EA1008F. Unfortunately, the part is presently out of stock, and would need to be ordered, this will add a few extra days to deliver the part to you, once the order is placed. Thanks,

Jeff for Model Number WT1701CV

I had a customer call me about their 1 year and 3 month old washer giving them an iE error code. I knew from previous experience that this wash an inlet valve issue. What I found when I inspected the machine baffled me. I don't understand why it took 1 year and 3 months for the error to show itself is my biggest question. The problem, which was quickly resolved was the hot and cold were hooked up to the washer backwards. The hot water to the cold valve and the cold to the hot. I was told by my customer that the washer hadn't been worked on by anyone else and was installed by her husband when they purchased them. Any reason why that error would take so long to present itself?

1 Answer

Jeff, With the colder weather it may be that it took the unit to recognize the error but is kinda strange that it would work for this long without popping the error.
