Nelson March 25, 2022 for Model Number MFU14M2BW1 I have a Kelvinator upright freezer S/N WB43211094. The relay is no longer working Part #216008900. This freezer has a 1/6HP compressor. 1) Can I use the 3 in 1 Relay Combo Kit TJ90RCO810 / AP4503019 for this freezer? It states that the TJ90RCO810 combo relay is for compressors 1/12HP to 1/5HP? The compressor in my freezer is in that range. 2) I read in another post that there is no replacement for relay part#216008900 but the 3 in 1 is within the HP range of my compressor so I am wondering why you did not recommend the TJ90RCO810 as a replacement for it. What is the hazard in using a relay which is rated for a larger HP rating than the HP of the compressor? Thx for your assistance.

Steve October 05, 2020 for Model Number FRS20WNFW0 (Frigidaire) Compressor is not starting up. I'm pretty sure the compressor is good. I want to install a 3 in 1 start relay, but am not sure which one to use. The compressor is rated at 11.8 LRA 1PH. I can't seem to get an answer anywhere regarding HP, but from my calculations, I believe it is 1/4 to 1/3 HP. Comp part # is DB73C12RAU6. Since the unit is about 25 yrs old, I don't really want to spend $200+ on the OEM replacement relay. Please advise.

1 Answer Hello Vincent, The three-in-one is has a high output capacitor that is not recommended unless the compressor has a history of being hard to start. This high output causes the start and run windings to burn out prematurely so if at all possible, the original start relay, overload, and capacitor should be replaced with the original.
