Breezy for Model Number RS2530BBP/XAA

Will not cool at all. The Condenser fan was not turning. Replaced the motor and still won't cool. Compressor wasn't cycling but I could hear clicking so I changed the overload and start relay. Still nothing. Opened the control box and smelled the magic smoke, seemingly from the capacitor, compressor cycles on and off every minute or so and gets hot, but not cooling at all still. I'm thinking it's time for the Control PCB, but didn't want to just throw more parts at it blindly. Is there any troubleshooting guide or a manual that would help isolate the fault at this point?

1 Answer

Breezy, as the overload and relay have been changed out, for the compressor to continue clicking this would indicate that the compressor [MSA182DL2H/ASH] has failed. The compressor would need to be changed out by a license technician.

Wu for Model Number Samsung RS2530BSH/XAA

No cooling on both sides. I removed the back cover and evaporator coil cover. It seems both condensor fan and evaporator fan are working. Compressor starts to work as well. I could see frost is built up on evaporator coil but only on left side (3 or 4 inch long) of first row of evaporator coil. What could be the problem? Leaking? Main control board? or sensor? I tried to run the self diagnosis by push both IceType-Filter Reset buttons same time and hold them, the display flash and then I heard beap and then the display went off. I release the button, after a few seconds, the display come back as previous setting without any flash light to indicate if there is error. Thanks a lot for your help.

Wu, With there only being about 3 to 4 inches of frost on one of the coils of the unit, this issue would be either a restriction or a leak in the sealed system.

P for Model Number rs2530bbp

Samsung fridge. Control panel (AP4141540) has no life. It won't operate the ice maker, water dispenser, or fridge/freezer controls. there is at least partial power to the unit, because the middle bar on the freezer is blinking. No other reaction, despite any combination of button pushing, 3-secs or no. The control board was replaced new last year. the red wire to the start device has 120v, the others are showing about 15v (stray voltage). There is nothing coming from the capacitor, nor going to the capacitor. The capacitor is ok. Any chance it is the control panel (the push button control at the dispenser)? Thanks in advance

1 Answer

P, The middle freezer display light flashing indicates that there is a faulty sensor for the freezer defrost. If you check the voltage on the CN30 connector of the control board between pins 4 and 6, it should read 4.7v to 0.6v range. If not then the sensor is bad and would need to be replaced.

Gary, You will want to check the frost pattern of your evaporator coils. If the coils have a even frost pattern then you will need to look for a air flow issue but it sounds like from the description that you have a sealed system failure. With no frost pattern and the compressor getting extremely hot then it would be a restriction in the sealed system or if there is no frost pattern and the compressor is warm but not overly hot then there may be a leak.

Laurel, Based on this information it sounds like the control board may be the issue but you will also want to look to see if the evaporator is impacted with ice and check the sensors in the unit to make sure that they are good as well. The PBA is part number DA41-00134F.
