For Samsung Range Dual Surface Element Switch (Part Number: OEM18112599)

Jason for Model Number NE58F9500

Have issues with the two front smooth top burners. Initially the largest burner (front Right) would run away getting hotter and hotter. You could be simmering something for an hour and then all of a sudden it would go full heat. Then it stopped working completely, not turning on. I have found that turning all of the burners on simultaneously will result in the right front burner working again. Unfortunately, it does not fix the problem it will start getting too hot again and then not turning on at all. Figured it would be the switch but the since turning all burners on makes it work again short term was wondering if could be an issue with multiple parts?

1 Answer

Jason, based on the information provided, it does sound like there is an issue with the dual infinite switch DG44-01006B, but there may also be an issue with a wire or the element grounding out. It would be recommended that the wires and element are inspected for any damage.

Danny, the infinite switch for the cooktop would not affect the oven's performance as they utilize separate circuits after the terminal block.

SRN, the front burner switches DG44-01006B would need to be tested for continuity to identify if one of the switches have failed. If the L1 or L2 terminal has continuity to any other terminal when in the off position, that switch has failed and is likely providing voltage feedback to the other switch. In regards to the rear burner switches DG44-01005B, it is possible that there may be an intermittent failure similar to the front burners.

The triple burner on our samsung range was sticking on high so I ordered a new infinite switch. When I took the old one out I noticed the new one was not correct because the pins were not the same, so I put the old one back in so we could use it until I order the correct part. Anyway, now the "oven cooling" fan is on constantly blowing cool air. Any idea what would cause that? There is a circuit board behind the control knobs near where I put the infinite switch so maybe I accidentally shorted something there? TIA

1 Answer

Nick, Check for wiring issue that could cause the fan to continuously run like a pinched wire. If the wiring is good then it will most likely be the control board that is faulty.

The front right burner on my Samsung range was staying on high no matter what we changed the dial to so I replaced the infinite switch with part #DG44-01006B (which I'm pretty sure if is the correct part). The burner has 3 sizes, small, medium and large. Now the small inside burner works great, but the medium only works when I set the dial to "large".....and the large burner doesn't work at all. When the dial is set to "medium" it doesn't come on at all. Is it possible I connected it wrong? Or maybe I have the wrong part number?

1 Answer

Nick, It sounds as though there may be something that is connected wrong and you would want to double-check the wiring. If the wiring is good then it sounds like you may have received a faulty switch.

Hello Janice the infinite switch controls the burner operation. Check for 240v out of the switch first, if it is there with the switch turned on, then the burner needs to be replaced.

Janice, the switch would be tested for continuity after the range power cord has been unplugged. With the switch turned onto the dual setting, the terminal L2 would be tested for continuity to H2. Then terminal L1 would be tested for continuity with H1 and P. Terminal S1 would be tested for continuity with S2. There should be continuity at each test if the switch is working (with the exception of a surface element overheating).
