George for Model Number NE58F9710WS

Front right burner stopped working while using on high. None of the small, medium and large in FR all not working. Hot surface indicator light does come on. BL, BR and FL all work. Checked DG44-01007B and L2 terminal wire and infinite switch L2 terminal are burned. I found this that your tech wrote: With the switch rotated to the 3 ring selection, the terminal L1 will be tested to the terminals H1, P, 4B, S1, and S2 for continuity. The terminal L2 would be tested to H2. I did this test and no continuity from L1 to S1 or S2. Everything else ok. How can I verify 240v power to L2 for front right wire is ok and not the source of the burn out? I would hate to put a new infinite switch in only for that to be burned as well. Is there a way from molex to burner to check continuity to verify burner is not also damaged? I prefer not to remove the top to check burner which is major disassembly.

George, if the wire connection has burn markings on it, the wire harness DG96-00322A may need to be replaced. The wires can be tested from L1 to L2 for 240VAC when the range power supply is on. However, the testing information you have provided would certainly indicate a failed switch DG44-01007B.

The temperature on my triple burner will spontaneously raise to high regardless of the actual knob setting. Many times the burner must be turned off to change the temperature at all. It happens on all three burners. It does not turn on additional burners (in the the triple burner), but it will raise the temperature to high which ever combination of burners is on. It also happens intermittently. Sometimes we can cook eggs without it happening other times it happens almost immediately. It does seem to happen more frequently the longer the burner is on. Any ideas?

Alexander, the regulator DG44-01007B would need to be tested for continuity with the range unplugged. With the switch rotated to the 3 ring selection, the terminal L1 will be tested to the terminals H1, P, 4B, S1, and S2 for continuity. The terminal L2 would be tested to H2. There should be continuity at each test point. If there is not continuity, then the switch has failed. If there is continuity, the wires to the element will need to be inspected for any breaks. If the wires are intact, the most likely failure would be in the element. In regards to the element, if the REV number of your appliance is 00 or 01, the element is part number DG47-00065A and has been discontinued by the manufacturer. If the REV number is 02 or higher, the element is part number DG47-00065A.
