Devin, There is not a Teflon sleeve that would be needed to be replaced. If the hole is too large for the spring thing the issue would be the with side that has the larger hole. This would require that part to be replaced.

Sally, There is no information available on installing the spring on the French door flapper. You may need to remove the flapper to install but the part does go in the bottom hinge of the flapper and there will be a hole in the hinge and a hole in the flapper itself that it would go into.
