For Samsung Microwave Thermostat (Part Number: OEM13740336)

Sb for Model Number SMH7174BC

As far as I can tell there are three thermostats in my Samsung microwave Model SMH7174BC - one next to my the magnetron and two others that are mounted next to each other close to the main board on the bottom. Question 1: Can you tell me if the two thermostats that are mounted next to each other should both show continuity when testing them? Question 2: The one next to the magnetron shows continuity. That one should, right? Thanks in advance for your help.

1 Answer

SB, The two thermostats in question usually sit right behind the control panel in most units. And only one should have continuity, the other closes on heat rise to start the cooling fan for the magnetron. That is the only one that should read open though.

Joe K for Model Number SMH9207ST/XAA-0001

Recently asked about what part I need to order based on microwave shutting off after a couple of minutes and the overhead light making it happen immediately. You suggested the control board but which one? The main control board de92-02135a or main power control board de92-02136a. de92-02136a doesn't seen to be too difficult but I'm not sure about de92-02135a which seems to be located in the door. Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!!!!!!

Joe, This does not sound like it would be caused by the thermostat or the transformer but sounds like the draw is coming from the control board itself. This would most likely be a bad control board that would need to be replaced.

Hector, If you replaced the membrane switch and the buttons are still not working then the issue would be the control board.

Alejandro, You will want to test the noise filter which is located beside the fan. There is a ceramic fuse that may have failed. The fuse may be tied into the board and not replaceable in which you would need the filter assembly DE96-00400B. This is the most likely cause for no power at all.

Ollie, The of the 2 thermostats that are side by side on the bottom one will have continuity and the other will not unless the temp rises past a certain level. There are other Thermal cutouts on the unit that you will want to check to make sure that they have continuity.

Chris for Model Number Maytag MMV4205BAS

I purchased this Thermostat (cavity location) by cross ref from DE47-20007A. I got two results on your website (AP4219746 and AP4219877). I think these are the correct parts and I think they are the same parts but to be sure I wanted the specs on the part. Are the detailed specs on these parts available? At a minimum I would like to know the threshold temperature (fusing temp), but all the device specs would be preferable. Thanks, Chris

1 Answer

Chris, we do not have the detailed specs available on the thermostat DE47-20007A. However, the thermostat listed as part number DE47-20007B is a Samsung manufactured part and DE47-20007B is a Whirlpool manufactured part. Sorry about that and thank you for your inquiry.
