Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM12440946)

John, It's usually a faulty fill valve, It's a quick, easy test to determine which is at fault. Disconnect the wires from the fill valve, and attach your multi meter probes to the wires. Press and hold the rubber "test" button on the bottom of the icemaker control for three(3) seconds, the ice maker should start to rotate. When the ice maker tray returns to the horizontal position, the voltage should appear on the wires at the valve. No voltage indicates a faulty ice maker control, voltage on the wires indicate a faulty fill valve. Here's some meter usage information if you need it [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html]. Thanks

Hello Hector, yes a bad water valve can cause the water to stop flowing up to the icemaker. Also a bad icemaker can cause it not to call for water and prevent the solenoid to dispense water to icemaker. Most units have to solenoids on the valve assembly, one for the water dispenser if it has one and one for the icemaker. With a model number we would be able to supply you with the correct water valve and icemaker, thanks!
