Dc September 07, 2016 for Model Number RF265ABWP/XAA-0000 I have no ice making capability. I have checked and have water pressure to the control valve. We left for vacation last year, turned off the water in the house but totally forgot to turn off the ice maker. My suspicion is that the solenoid on the valve was continuously on as the refrigerator continued to try and make ice, thus burning out the solenoid. Is this a feasible assumption or am I way out in left field here?
1 Answer Hello DC. Yes, it is reasonable. Test for power to the valve. If there and no water, replace the valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Eric February 09, 2015 for Model Number RF263AEWP/XAA My ice maker is over filling the tray and when the tray goes to dump the cubes it has to break off an ice stem that is formed, I get clumps of ice cubes with an ice tail. I have already replaced the ice maker assembly and it is still doing the same thing. I suspect that the water valve is the problem, but an not sure? Is there something else that would cause this to happen?
1 Answer Eric, You will want to check to make sure that the water pressure is good but most likely the issue will be caused by the water valve. Read More...
