The Washer Door Latch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This assembly is crucial for securing the washer door during operation, ensuring that the door remains closed and locked while the machine is in use. This helps prevent water leaks and ensures that the wash cycle completes safely and effectively.

You should replace the door latch assembly if it becomes faulty or damaged. Causes of a bad door latch assembly can include wear and tear over time, mechanical failure, or accidental damage from forcefully closing the door. A malfunctioning latch can prevent the washer from starting or cause it to stop mid-cycle.

Symptoms of a bad door latch assembly include:

  • The washer door not locking or staying closed
  • The washer not starting or pausing mid-cycle
  • Error codes related to door lock issues displayed on the control panel
  • Water leakage around the door area during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

NOTE: Washer door latch, gray w/switches and ind. Light

For Whirlpool Washer Door Latch Assembly (Part Number: OEM18019122)

John for Model Number MAH7500AWW serial #7090147izk

I have a Neptune washer mah7500aww with serial #7090147izk the problem seems to be in the door latch assembly which I think is part #22003593. When you try to start the cycle the door locks but then the screen says the door did not appear to lock. When you check the door it is locked and you must open it with emg cord.Do you think it is just the latch assembly or could the control board also be bad? Are there any test I can do to isolate the problem? I don't mind purchasing the latch ass. but control panel is more than machine is worth.

Tim, The thin green line that is attached to the door assembly is used incase the door latch were to stick closed, it is a there to pull to release the latch.

Hello Barry, The LR error code indicates a locked rotor. This means that the control board is trying to turn the motor but the motor will not turn. This can be caused by too heavy of load. You would also want to check for loose or corroded wires to the motor control and main control. Also check for possible bad bearing that could cause drag on motor.

Elizabeth, you're on target, The yellow nylon cord(emergency cord) does get inserted into the opening in the front corner of the dispenser housing side wall and "sits" in the bottom of the dispenser assembly. This is used to unlock the door latch if the lock should fail or there's an emergency. The previous repairman may have forgot to re route the string to the dispenser assembly.
