This microwave magnetron generates the RF energy that heats food. If your unit runs but won't heat—or makes a loud hum—the magnetron may be at fault. Replace this assembly to restore dependable heating.

  • Produces microwave energy as part of the high-voltage system to heat food
  • Typical failure symptom: runs but does not heat
  • Loud humming or buzzing during a cook cycle
  • Burning smell, arcing, or scorch marks near the waveguide/magnetron
  • Trips the breaker or blows an internal fuse at start when shorted
What's included: 1 magnetron assembly Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power before service; the high-voltage capacitor can retain a dangerous charge—discharge it properly
  • Note wire orientation and mounting; transfer any original brackets/insulators as required; install in the same orientation
  • Handle by the body only; do not touch or chip the ceramic antenna
  • Inspect the waveguide and cavity cover for signs of arcing and correct any damage before use
Before you buy: No-heat can also be caused by the high-voltage diode, capacitor, transformer, or door switches. Diagnose to ensure the magnetron is the failed component.

Hi Mark. Above the turntable tray is a stirrer cover held in place by a button part # DE66-20095B. Remove it and the cover. Is the stirrer blade broken? Rare but will not allow heat, part # is W10250840. The magnetron part # WPW10126786, capacitor part # 8206562, and the diode part # WPDE91-70063D all fire together to make 'Heat" . Usually there is a very noticeable growl noise along with no heat. Is the fan part # WPW10250841, working? Is the fan blade broken? Behind control assy.,not on top. Part # DE31-90051A. Examine all components. Thank you.
