Located inside the freezer's ice bucket, this ice auger is the helical shaft that rotates to move cubes toward the chute for cubed or crushed ice. Replacing a worn or bent auger restores dispensing and helps prevent jams and grinding.

  • Rotates with the dispenser motor to move ice through the bucket and into the chute
  • Works with the crusher assembly to provide cubed or crushed ice
  • Damage or wear can cause jamming, slow/weak dispensing, or loud grinding during dispense
  • Often replaced when the dispenser motor runs but little or no ice is dispensed
What's included: 1 ice auger Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power to the refrigerator; remove the ice bucket from the freezer
  • Disassemble the bucket/crusher housing; transfer blades, spacers, and hardware to the new auger in the same order and orientation
  • Handle sharp metal parts with care; wear cut-resistant gloves
  • Reinstall the bucket fully seated; restore power and test both cubed and crushed functions

Hello Ray. This is an issue caused by the door liner being made of plastic. You see, the issue is caused by the plastic door liner changing shape by a small amount and this makes the shaft too short. Believe me, this steel shaft cannot strip. When the motor is setting effectively further away, this makes the shaft slip because it isn't meshing fully. I remove the two 1/4 inch hex headed screws and set the plastic "keeper" and spring aside. Pull the shaft up, out of the hole, (you can grab it with needle nosed pliers). Wrap electrical tape, sticky side out, around itself about 20 times or so and shove the wad of tape into the bottom end of the shaft. It may take a few trys to get the length right, but when you get it right, the shaft will mesh on both ends and it will dispense again. This is one of two ways to correct this issue. The other one is to replace the freezer door assembly.

Bernard, Does the water dispenser work ? Check the wire harness at the top of the freezer door hinge for loose connections or damaged wires. Then you'll need to dismantle the dispenser assembly and check the switches and paddles for operation. heres some help for that : 1. Unplug the refrigerator power cord. 2. Remove the overflow grille from the housing. 3. Unsnap front cover at the bottom of the housing. (You'll need to use a flat blade screw driver, and using the slots molded into the bottom edge of the facade, twist or pry out on the bottom of the facade until the retainer clips snap loose and free). 4. Disconnect the front cover switch harness connector and set the cover aside. 5. Disconnect the power wire harness connector (BL/BK and W wires) 6. Disconnect the flapper door heater wire harness connector (if one is present). 7. Release the dispenser microswitch retainers and slide the switches off of their locator pins. Carefully handle the switches so they do not come apart. 8. Disconnect the wires from the terminals of the lamp holder. 9. Remove the two 1/4? hex head screws from the control bracket and remove the control bracket. 10. Remove the 1/4? hex head screw to remove the water fitting (fill spout) from the water dispenser lever. 11. Unsnap the ice guide and remove it from the ice dispenser lever. 12. Remove the air pot by sliding the rear of the air pot out of the slot molded to the dispenser housing and slip the linkage out of the flapper door mechanism assembly. 13. Unsnap the flapper door and remove it from the ice dispenser lever. While you remove the flapper door, carefully guide the flapper door heater wire and connector over the door mechanism assembly. 14. Remove the 1/4? hex head screw securing the dispenser levers pivot retainer to the dispenser housing and remove the retainer. 15. Remove the water dispenser lever. 16. Remove the ice dispenser lever by maneuvering it around the door mechanism assembly. 17. Pull the pin from the door mechanism assembly and remove the spring and mechanism 18. Reassemble in reverse order. Good Luck and Thanks
