For Whirlpool Barrier (Lower Vent) (Part Number: OEM18037281)

Eric for Model Number KUDS25SHWH1

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher that I'm working on. The model number is; KUDS25SHWH1. I am trying to re-install the front sheet metal panels after replacing the control panel. I cannot remember how this "lower vent barrier" was attached. I seem to recall that it was attached to the bottom of the larger sheet metal panel, but I honestly just don't remember. When I look at the exploded view from Kitchenaid for this model, it looks as though it's between the inner door panel and the frame of the door, but I don't know how it came off if that's the case. Doesn't seem to make any sense that it goes there. Maybe the drawing is just showing it in a different place than it is actually located? I also noticed that this "lower vent barrier" (p/n 8054188) supersedes to 8283179, and that part now has an Instruction Sheet associated with it, so there must have been some questions about installing it. I'm kind of at my wits end trying to figure out where this "vent barrier" was originally attached and how to now re-install it. Can you help me with this? Thank you, Eric

Eric, Try this : Align the tabs at the top of the outer door panel with the slots in the upper protion of the door frame, and push the panel in and up. Then install the two(2) screws at the bottom of the outer door panel. Then install the lower access panel and kick plate.

Rene, The vent barrier kit comes with instructions. Basically you'll need to remove the outer door panel and the lower access panel to get access to the vent barrier. Have you had a chance to check the lower spray arm for a crack or split seam along the edges or debris in the spray arm openings, these symptoms can cause the water to be sprayed against the bottom of the door and leak past the vent. Good Luck and Thanks
