Keith for Model Number Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher model # 66515795790

Hi, RE: Door Bottom Vapor Barrier part # WP8283179 You show the referenced part as being "not available" as per your website. Still, I have a question for you. Your website shows an "instruction sheet" when on the page showing the part. I sure wish I could read that sheet because I'd like to see how it's removed/installed before I attempt to fabricate one myself or find the part elsewhere. I understand the replacement part is actually installed different than the one from the factory. And, is it essential the part is even replaced; mine is severely deteriorated and sometimes hangs down below the door. If I just pull it out and don't replace it, what really happens? I understand from reading various comments that it really has nothing to do with water leaking from the wash tub. Perhaps it keeps moisture vapor from getting against the bottom of the door; and, what bad would happen if it does? Anyway, can you provide me with a readable copy of the "instruction sheet" I see on the part listing. When I try to magnify the shown instruction sheet, it merely blurs to the point it's unreadable. I'd sure appreciate a better copy of the "instruction sheet." Thanks, Keith

Rprine, It would not take much for ants to get into the dishwasher. They are most likely foraging for water and or food that may be in the sump. The only thing that can be done is to put out a ant treatment for the ants.

Dean, as there are multiple parts that this can be, it would be recommended to remove the front door panel and inspect as to which part it may be. The parts that it could be are as follows, vent barrier WP8283179, lower door seal 4172127, or it could be one of the seals that may have corroded and dropped.

Don, When you open the door, you will need to remove the inner door and the barrier will go down at the bottom of the door frame.

Huey, The lower vent barrier is attached to the bottom of the inner door panel. To install the barrier (lower vent) you would need to open the door of the dishwasher and remove the inner screws holding the inner door panel to the door assembly. With the inner door panel off you will be able to replace the barrier. Then reverse the procedure and check the dishwasher for leaks and operation. Thanks

Jesse for Model Number KUDC25CHBL1

Dripping water off tub and door bottom. Took out door seal, cleaned and inspected it for cracks and cuts. All looked good so reinstalled. Ordered lower door bottom seal and replaced. Leaking diminished and now only on the left side. Seams to splash up over the tub lip and run down curve of the tube. Found a worn radial bearing on lower spray bar and replaced both bearing rings. Again, lessened the leaking but it still drips about a cup during a wash from the left side about 3" in from the door edge. Is the tub lip bent? It seams to be straight with door bottom. Could the door seal still be the issue though it looks ok. Upper spray bar bearing is fine. should the door bottom seal be glued on? Don't know what else to check?

Hello Jesse. Based on the information you provided, either the spray arm is cracked or the lower seal is bad. You will need to check both.

Hello Kaia, The lower vent barrier WP8283179 is not really a water seal. The bottom of the door is an air inlet for the dry cycle so it is just a "barrier" to prevent the water from splashing over. If water is splashing over the air vent in the bottom, look for a separated spray arm, a clogged spray arm, or a missing seal on the water tube up the rear of the unit feeding the middle and top spray arms.

Pearl for Model Number 66515739000

I have a Kenmore Ultra that was leaking from the bottom of the door panel. I got a new door gasket & installed it & there was no leak for about a month. Then it began to leak again. This time a drip comes off a screw head on the right side underneath the bottom of the door, it drips down onto the top of the ?kick plate? & then onto the floor. I checked for cracks in the spray arm & everything there is fine. I have ordered this lower vent barrier. How do I take everything apart to install this part? And do you think this is the problem? Thank you.

Pearl, To install the barrier (lower vent) you would need to open the door of the dishwasher and remove the inner screws holding the inner door. With the inner door off you will be able to replace the barrier.

Hello Don, Yes it is possible for the water to spray out if the lower barrier is broken or cracked. You may also want to check your lower spray arm to make sure that the spray arm is not cracked as this is the most common reason for leaking or water coming out from under door.
