Frank July 19, 2011 for Model Number MAH5500BWW Maytag Neptune Front Loading Washing I was quoted by A&E Service over $1600.0 to repair what sounds like the bearings on the washer. It sounds like a jet taking off during the spin cycle. I went online and found both front and rear bearings for about $35.00. My questions to anyone out there will there be any other parts needed when I attempt to repair the bearings myself such as retainers, clips, springs or any other items or will just changing the bearings remedy the problem. In his report he stated that the Basket Drive/Bearings DD is what's causing the loud whinning sound during the spin cycle. Any help will be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows of a reliable repairman with reasonable pricing I would like to know that also. Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Frank. Based on the model number you provided, you will need to order the outer tub assembly 22004465 to do a proper repair on the washer. The outer tub comes with the bearings and seals already installed. Hope this helps. Read More...
