The Burner Cap is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool gas cooktops and ranges. This cap sits atop the burner head and is responsible for evenly distributing the flame for consistent heating. Made from durable materials, it ensures efficient cooking performance while protecting the burner head from debris and spills.

Causes of a bad Burner Cap can include physical damage such as cracks or chips due to accidental drops, exposure to excessive heat over time, or buildup of food and grease that affects its functionality. A poorly fitting cap can also result in uneven flame distribution or inefficient cooking.

Symptoms of a bad Burner Cap include:

  • Uneven flame or difficulty in lighting the burner
  • Visible damage such as warping, cracks, or chips
  • Food or grease buildup that is hard to clean

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Chuck, Since the holes were not in the burner head you can drill the holes for it to attach to the tubing. You will want to make sure that when you drill the holes out that you get any shavings from the holes and from inside the burner head.

Hello, here is a link to the conversion process https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Installation%20Instructions%20-%208101P534-60.pdf . Make sure the conversion was performed properly, however when this unit runs on L.P it will bring down the ratings of the burners to 7,500-9,000 btu's. Thanks!

Hello Don, Have the gas valves under the knobs been adjusted? The flame on low should be adjusted to just rise above the burner cap.

Curt for Model Number jen aire JGD8130

Recently replaced a defective igniter on a 12 year old cooktop - a service tech told me i should clean the burners periodically. On this cartridge, I unscrewed both burners and blew out A LOT of rust. After replacing, the new ingiter works fine but when i use either burner, after about 3 - 5 minutes of being lit, there is a loud woosh and the burner(s) go out. I have had these cartridges apart numerous times but have never had a problem. I have switched sides and same thing happens. The burners on the other cartridge works fine on either side. Will replacing the burners(AP4420176?????) resolve this issue.
