Sam, The red seal is just the burner gasket. The part is no longer manufactured as the manufacturer determined it was not required.

Hello Jaime, The only difference of the two burners may be the btu output that it can accept. 3412D024-28 is the burner that your unit calls for.

Clarence A for Model Number Maytag/ Gas top burner IgniterCHG9800BAM

I have a maytag Gas stove model chg9800Bam. It seems when cleaning the top burner area, the cloth catches on the Burner igniter and brakes the porcelain protector. In order too repair I am forced to buy the entire burner unit. I have a total of four burners that are in excellant condition with out a working igniter. At a price of Fifty Dollars per Burner I would like to buy four of the Igniters only ? PS I was in the commercial Kitchen repair Business for 35Yrs. So I repair of my own.

Hello Clarence, Unfortuneately the ignitors are part of the sealed burners and cannot be replaced individually. You would have to replace the sealed burner heads 3412D024-28.

Hi Mike. Remove the power and remove the burner. Is this the only burner doing this ? Un hook the burner igniter and set the burner aside. Then use a deep socket to take the orifice all the way down against the inner jet until It lightly stops. COUNT AND RECORD THE # OF TURNS. Then remove the orifice hood completely. Use a small safety pin to insert in the top and check for any blockage. Now then concentrate on the lower jet assy. to make sure there are no debris there also. You did not say which gas product you are set to use. The unit is normally sent from the factory w/ Nat- gas. If it is to be used under L.P. then you need to fully convert it.Then reinstall the burner hood the exact # of tirns counted previously. The normal amount of turns from bottom out is 1-1/2 to- 2 turns for Nat-gas set up. All the way bottomed for LP- gas. Black soot sounds like a bad pressure regulator or a bad conversion if all the burners and oven are doing the same.....? Let us know so we can assist. further. Thank You.

Hello Pam! Yes, the original burners can be installed on the appliance without the gaskets. The burners should be a direct replacement. If you need any install help please let us know. Thanks!
