This magnetron capacitor is the microwave high-voltage capacitor that helps supply the magnetron with the pulse of energy needed to produce heat. Replacing a failing capacitor restores normal heating performance and reduces arcing or loud humming. What it does

  • Stores and releases the high-voltage pulse required by the magnetron so the microwave can generate heat.
  • Prevents unstable magnetron operation that can cause weak or no heating.
  • Common symptoms of a failing capacitor: oven runs but doesn't heat, intermittent heating, loud buzzing/humming, or visible arcing inside the cavity.
  • A failed capacitor can also cause blown internal fuses or tripped circuits.
What's included
  • One capacitor.
Install notes
  • Disconnect power and verify the appliance is completely de-energized before servicing.
  • Capacitors can hold dangerous charge; discharge the capacitor safely with an insulated tool.
  • Use the exact replacement part and follow the appliance service manual for routing and connections.

Bob, Yes it could, you'll also want to test the diode and the magnetron with a multimeter. The diode should read resistance or a closed circuit ibn one direction only and you should read less than 1 ohm resistance when you place the meter leads across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal to the magnetron casing or chassis ground. If all's OK you'll need to check or look for a shorted or "pinched" wire in the harness. Good Luck and Thanks
