Symptoms of a faulty closure include:

  • Cool air escaping around door edges driving up energy costs
  • The fridge unable to maintain set interior temperatures
  • Inability to securely latch doors closed

This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore models.

I just replaced the bottom drawer gasket because I had frost buildup on one side of the inside of the freezer. After replacing, I notice have it on the other side. Could this be due to misalignment of the door itself? It seems to shut tight. I also noticed I need to replace the upper door gasket due to the bottom half of gasket separating. What do you think the problem of this continual frost buildup would be? Would coating the gasket (bottom freezer door gasket) with a petroleum jelly do any good? Thank you

Hello Mike, This could be from the unit being out of level, (all four feet not equally sharing the units' weight), the drawer not closing evenly, or the door seal simply not making good contact with the metal face of the cabinet. You can check the door seal with a dollar bill by closing the door on the bill and check to see if the bill is held in place by the magnet in the door seal or if it can be pulled out without opposition from the magnet.

My left french door does not close easily. This door has a flap that rotates as the door closes to seal with the door on the right. The bottom of this flap (vert mulli in the diagram) appears to be binding on the refrigerator cabinet as if the door needs adjustment or bushing/cam replacement to raise it up a bit. I don't see a way to adjust the door and I'm not certain of the required parts needed for the latter fix. Would appreciate any help you can offer. -John

John, The way to adjust the door on this unit is with the leveling. You would want to try to adjust this first and see if it will not correct the issue. If it continues then it sounds like the issue will be caused by a possible door bushing which would be part number WP67002721.

Hello Pamela. You can check the door cams. However, this is normal if there is a lot of weight in the door. It is normal on French doors to have to push both doors closed on the unit.

Adam, You will want to make sure that the front of the refrigerator is not raised too high. If not then you would want to check the door closer for being damaged.

John, The only mating type part would be inside the door itself and if it is bad then would have to replace the door.

Hello George, The left door is held some by the vertical mullion, but the most important part of getting the door to close properly is the leveling of the unit. The magnets are mainly to seal, not to close the doors. If the left door sets higher than the right. the units' leveling should be adjusted to bring the doors even.

Hello George. Yes, you will remove the door and see if the closure is worn on the unit. If so, replace the part.
