This electronic control board is the appliance's main control. It directs power and timing to the correct components so cycles run as selected, helping restore consistent operation when the original board has failed.

  • Coordinates operation of motors, valves, heaters, and pumps
  • Interprets inputs from switches and sensors to manage cycle logic
  • Stores and executes programmed options and settings
  • Typical symptoms: won't start or advance, unresponsive or flashing controls, error codes, intermittent shutdowns
Includes: 1 electronic control board. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; use ESD protection and handle the board by its edges
  • Access is typically through the control console; refer to your model's service sheet for exact location
  • Move wire connectors one at a time to the new board and secure it properly
  • Perform any required initialization/diagnostic steps for your model after installation

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Main Control) (Part Number: OEM16855821)

Ryan for Model Number JDB8200AWS0

At first, I wasn't able to push any buttons on the control panel. It wouldn't allow me. It's like they were dead. The green LED light is on and it beeps when you close the door. I reset the control panel by pushing three consecutive buttons, three times in a row. When I try a wash cycle, it'll make a sound like a pump turned on (I don't believe it got any water). It'll make a sound for a few minutes, then click, then turn off. When you tell it to drain, the same noise starts and it sounds like it's trying to drain. Then, it stops. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ryan, If the unit is shutting down after just a few moments then this will likely be an issue with the main control board on the unit.

Steve, turn the power off to the DW, remove the screws that go around the door control panel, the console will drop down, exposing the control board, it is sometimes covered with a plastic shield,, remove the shield and replace the control.
