Causes of a bad control board can include wear and tear over time, moisture exposure, or power surges that damage delicate electronic components.

Symptoms of a bad control board include:

  • Inability to select or change wash cycles
  • Dishwasher not starting or staying running
  • Lights or displays not working properly
  • Unusual noises coming from the control area
  • Cycles not completing or randomly stopping

This genuine OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM20497779)

1 Answer

Bill, with the power supply to the dishwasher turned off, the user interface W11402115 would need to be unplugged from the main control W11306302, reassemble the door and leave the door open. From there, the power supply would need to be turned on, wait at least 10 seconds and then close the door. If the main control is operating properly, the drain pump will operate for 2 minutes and the user interface would need to be replaced. If the drain pump does not turn on for 2 minutes, the main control has failed and would need to be replaced.
