The Auger Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This motor powers the auger mechanism in the ice maker, which is responsible for dispensing ice through the door. The auger motor turns the auger blade, pushing ice from the bin through the chute to the dispenser.

Common causes of a bad auger motor include wear and tear from regular use, electrical failures, or damage from ice jams. A malfunctioning auger motor can lead to issues with ice dispensing and may prevent ice from being dispensed altogether.

Symptoms of a bad auger motor include:

  • Ice not dispensing when the lever or button is pressed
  • Unusual noises or grinding sounds during ice dispensing
  • The auger not turning or moving intermittently
  • No ice being pushed through the chute

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

Harold, Unfortunately there is no video for the auger motor on this unit. To replace the motor you would need to remove the drip tray from the dispenser then remove the 2 screws located behind the tray. Once removed you can take the dispenser housing off which will give you access to the motor. You will also need to remove the shaft from the inside of the door for this.

Hello Isaac. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hi Jason. The Auger motor is part # WP2323603. The blue wire goes to the # 7 terminal and the gray with red wire goes to the # 1 terminal. You can also look carefully at the old motor at the side of the motor terminals to see which 2 of them were used to guide you. Thank You.

Tim, It can turn freely and still be bad, If it is seized an won't turn, then it's obviously a problem. What seems to be wrong. Another test for the motor, hook a 120 VAC test cord to the motor terminals, and plug the cord into an outlet, the motor should run, unless it's bad. Thanks and Good Luck.
