Robert July 01, 2015 for Model Number DU8700XY1 Hello. I have an old Whirlpool dishwasher. I know, I know, why not just buy a new one but it still works just fine except ... I noticed the other day that it was running particularly noisy and, upon, finishing, the dishes were not clean. Tried washing a couple more loads over the past two weeks with the same result. My initial thought was the pump was going bad which would indeed mean a new appliance. However today while trying one more load I actually opened the door during the first wash cycle and noticed that the water level was extremely low. I mean low. I manually added some hot water to the level of the bottom of the float, closed the door and let her run. Quiet as normal and it's washing fine. My question: Is the fill on this unit timed or does the float shut of the supply when the proper water level has been reached? Either way, does this sound like a fill valve problem? I'm leaning that direction. If it's a cheap-er fix this machine still has a home. Thanks!

Howard July 28, 2014 for Model Number DU8700XX-1 Hi! Our Whirlpool Mo. DU8700XX-1 is not adequately cleaning dishes. Replaced the impellers and gaskets which I orderd from you all, but that did not improve cleaning. Also checked the spray arms and they are free of any cracks or obstruction in the orifices. Also checked the float and it appears to be moving freely and one can denote it clicking upon moving it up and down. I now suspect the inlet water valve. Can't be sure if valve is permitting enough water into the unit on initiating the wash cycle. When initiated, water is deposited in the tub, but I can't tell if it is adaquate as I do not know what the water depth dimension should be for this unit when it shuts off just prior to beginning the wash cycle. I removed the valve and checked the filter screen and it had a smidgeon of mineral material on the filter, but definitely was not anyway restricted. Then measured the solenoid tabs with the power turned off and instead of getting an impedance of 500 to 1500 ohms, it registered infinity on all the meter resistance settings. I know if it was zero, the inlet valve needs replacing, but I'm not sure what it means when the resistance skies to infinity!?? Do you feel the inlet valve is the culprit???

Ragas February 07, 2014 for Model Number du920qwdb0 Can't post this tread. Loaded the Whirlpool dishwasher as usual. Started the dishwasher. Unloaded the dishwasher and noticed 2"-3" water in the bottom tub that didn't drain out. Noticed all the dishes were still dirty. Pressed "on" to drain . Nothing. None of the led lights would not come on. Switch dishwasher circuit to "off" at the main electrical panel. Manually removed the dirty water. Made a natural de-clog paste of 1/4 cup of baking powder, 1/4 cup of vinegar and put it into the bottom of the tub. After about 15-30 minutes we followed with about a 2 quart of boiling hot water in the bottom of the tub. Did this twice, each time removing the water by hand. Main electrical panel back "on". Reset the Whirlpool dishwasher, by pressing the high temp. once, the air dry once, the high temp. once and the air dry once. This reset the dishwasher. First all the led lights blink on for a few seconds, then the normal/washing lights for about 45 seconds, then the normal/ pots and pans /high temp/washing lights for about 30 seconds, then the pots/high temp/water heating for a few seconds, then water heating/high temp/washing (this is by memory) The heating element was on and heating but we didn't have any water in the tub to heat. Got nervous and cancelled the reset. Pressed "on" for normal cycle. Heard a faint electronic clicking as it was changing from one test to another, but no water entered the tub. Thermal Fuse replacement. Turn off electrical power. Getting to the control panel on the dishwasher door in tricky. Loosen all 8 screws (mine are hex screws) that hold the inner door to the frame. There is a slide screw attached to the inside of the inner door, close to the middle. The control panel has to be lifted up about 1/4" to release this slide from the screw of the inner door. Now you can remove the inner door. You have to release 2 clips, one on each side, to release the control panel cover. You can fold down the control panel away from the frame now and remove the old thermal fuse and install the new. Putting the control panel back onto the door in also tricky. Make sure the control panel fits correctly against the frame. Get the door handle in the correct position. Make sure the exterior outer panel door is under the control panel lip. Position the control panel cover, but don't engage the cover clips yet. Install the inner door against the frame at the same time, folding the control panel up against the frame . This engages the slide screw from the control panel to the inner door screw. As you push the inner door against the frame, aligning everything, the clips to the control panel will lock into place. Reinstall the 8 screws. Turn on electrical power. The Thermal Fuse did not fix my problem. Plan B. Water Inlet Valve cleaning. Turn off electrical power. Turn off water supply to dishwasher. Take 4 screws off the bottom panel and remove panel. The water inlet valve was removed and the valve screen was clogged with debris. Removed screen from valve and used a toothbrush to clean. Take a coat hanger and gentle ream out the water supply hose that was attached to the valve. Put the supply hose over a bucket and turn the water back on. Rusted looking water. Turn water off. Reinstalled water inlet valve. Turn on water supply and electrical power. The Water Inlet Valve cleaning did not fix my problem, but was probably the cause of my dishes being hazy and not being thoroughly cleaned in the past. What I did notice. While reinstalling the valve, I forgot to reinstall the black hose back on the valve. When I powered on the dishwasher, no water came out of the valve. That told me that the valve might be defective. Plan C. Water Inlet Valve replacement. Removed the water inlet valve and installed new valve. Turn water supply and electrical power back on. This did not fix my problem. Plan D. 1 Answer Ragas, With water being left in the unit you will want to check the drain to make sure that it is not clogged. If the drain is clear and the pump was not pumping the water out, along with the water valve not working then the issue would most likely be either in the main wire harness having a short or the control board being faulty. Ken May 03, 2013 for Model Number 665.16765690 This Kenmore DW keeps getting water into the tub when it is off. I currently have the valve under the sink turned off. I'm going to replace this valve asap since it has to be leaking, but what else must be malfunctioning to allow water into there with the unit idle for several days? I've had water leak onto the floor several times. Now I just run a drain cycle every day to pump out the 1 to 2 inches of water that have collected.The drainhose from the disposal runs up between the sink bowls before going to the unit. I've treid to get water into the DW by filling sink and running the disposal but that doesn;t seem to be the culprit. Thanks. Ken

By the pictorial view of the 3374621 valve it is placed a certain direction/configuration as to the physical hook ups of the elect. connector and/ or the supply tubes. For a couple dollars more literally, it is not worth the hassle to work in a small area and try to adapt another one in my view.
