The Bake Element is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ranges. Its primary function is to generate heat during baking and cooking.

Causes of a bad ELMNT-BAKE can include normal wear and tear over many bake/cook cycles that degrade insulation and wiring over time. It may also fail if exposed to accidental spills, splatters, or if knocked out of position.

Symptoms of a bad element include:

  • Inability to maintain proper baking temperatures, especially on the bottom of the oven
  • "Hot" or "Cold" spots developing where food is not cooking evenly
  • Diminished baking performance or uneven browning/cooking of dishes
  • Smells from dried-on or burnt residue on the faulty element

It is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Some Kenmore models.

Josh, Open the oven door and remove the racks. Using a flashlight so you can see good and no power to the unit locate the screws on the element screwed into the back wall. Remove the screws and carefully pull the element toward you not to disconnect the wires attached to it. Disconnect the wires and make sure they don't fall back into the cavity and connect them to the new element and reinstall the element. Apply power and check for function.

Terry, You will want to test to see if there is 240 Vac getting to the element. If there is then the element will be the issue and if there is not then the issue will be with the control board.
