Debra August 10, 2016 Glass top dual element, outer ring does not work, inner part does. What part do I need?
1 Answer Hello Debra. Test for power to the outer ring. If there and it does not work, replace the element. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Clyde W. April 27, 2016 for Model Number JEC5030ADS I am trying to test for continuity on inner and outer coil. There are three terminals . Which is the common for testing the other 2 ?
1 Answer Clyde, looking at the side of the element and sensor box. The center terminal (with the wire or the metal tab from the sensor box, is the "common" terminal for both element ribbons. The terminal to the right is for the inner element ribbon, and the terminal to the left is for the outer element ribbon. Read More...
Kevin March 28, 2015 for Model Number GJ8646XDQ0 Initially front left dual burner would not turn off. Replaced switch and now burner will turn off. However, center on dual burner will not fully heat up, warms but will not glow red. On dual operation outer ring will glow but center still only warm. Bad heat element also?
1 Answer Kevin, You will want to double check the wiring to the infinite switch WP8203529 to make sure that all the wires are connected properly. If this checks ok then it would most likely be the surface element that is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...

1 Answer Terry, The issue would be a bad limiter on the element but you would need to replace the element as the limiter is not available separately. Read More...
Laszlo December 29, 2013 for Model Number mec5430bdw The r/f heating element ( dual ) comes on full power only no matter where the dial is set. Is the thermostat part of the assy. Will replacing it solve the problem?
1 Answer Laszlo, Yes the temp probe on the burner would come with the burner. With the issue that you are having the issue would most likely be in the switch rather than in the element. Read More...

Richard E. September 15, 2011 for Model Number gjc3034hb3. ser.# xk3501115 The hot surface light on my Whirlpool gold cook top will not go off. I have tried heating all the elements on"HI" for 5 minutes , I have reset the circuit breaker. Same result in both cases: light will not turn off. I have also "jiggled " the on-off knobs with the same result. light stays on. Additionally, when I turned all the elemets to high for 5 minutes, all the elemets glowed and showed no broken elements. Can you help me troubleshoot this probelm and give me installation/repair instructions? I do have a magic chef cook top model # 88lk-6, ser. no. 02c14799322 for spare parts. Thx, Richard Ebner
