The Thermal Fuse is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ovens. This safety device is designed to prevent the oven from overheating by cutting off electrical power if the internal temperature exceeds a safe level.

The thermal fuse can fail due to normal wear and tear, prolonged exposure to high temperatures, or electrical surges. Accumulation of grease and debris around the fuse can also cause it to malfunction.

Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • The oven not heating up
  • The oven shutting off during use
  • No power to the oven
  • Error codes related to temperature control

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Sandra! Yes, the thermal fuse WP3196548 can be at fault. You can test this with a multi meter, it should read closed for continuity. If the thermal fuse is good, you'll need to replace the control part number WP6610316. Thanks.

Hello Jack, If proper voltage is being supplied to the unit and the elements test good, the issue will have to be either the control WPW10476673 or a wiring harness issue.

Hello Doug! You will want to make sure the breaker for the range is flipped on first. If your top burners are working but both the bake and broil burners are not coming on, you will more than likely need to replace W10840298. Thanks!

Mike for Model Number Inglis 30" EASY-CLEAN COOKTOP ELECTRIC RANGE

Hello, I recently began cleaning my stove. I turned off the Circuit Breaker and unplugged it. I then unscrewed the bake and broil elements (did not unclip them) and proceeded with cleaning. Once complete I screwed the bake and broil element in, but when I turned the circuit breaker on, these two elements would not work. The surface elements are fine, the display is fine and no error code occurs. The oven light also works. Checked the two elements and both give readings of 22 Ohms. Would it be possible that the thermal fuse failed?. Thanks, Mike

Tina, Based on the information it sounds like the relay for the bake cycle is faulty and the oven control WP6610457 would need to be replaced.
