The Float Switch Base Gasket is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This gasket is specifically designed to seal the area around the float switch base, preventing water leaks that can occur during the dishwasher's operation.

Causes of damage to the Float Switch Base Gasket often involve normal wear and tear, as the rubber or plastic material can degrade over time due to exposure to detergents, hot water, and the mechanical action of the float switch.

Symptoms of a bad Float Switch Base Gasket include:

  • Water leaking from the bottom of the dishwasher
  • Signs of water damage or corrosion around the float switch area
  • The dishwasher may malfunction or display error codes related to water filling issues if water leaks interfere with the float switch operation.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Float Switch Base Gasket (Part Number: OEM18038772)

Will B. for Model Number KUDA230YWH2

I have a kitchen aid superba dishwasher and have a problem with water leaking out below the overflow protection float. When the dishwasher is functioning water comes out below the float which is moving up and down. The water comes out and runs over the bottom where the switch. Is the float that needs to be replaced or would replacing the gasket part number AP3181006 be a better solution? How do I get the float off and get the gasket replaced?? Thank you, will Brucker

Will, first thing to check, the lower spray arm, make sure it is not blocked by debris in the nozzle openings(on both sides top and bottom), check all the seams, on all the arms for splits or cracks. Make sure the thumb screw is tight when you reinstall the arm assembly(some"wobble" is normal). And make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions(front to back and side to side). Thanks and Good Luck.
