The Grill Vent is an OEM part for Whirlpool microwaves. This part allows for the release of excess heat and steam during cooking. This vent helps to maintain optimal operating temperatures and prevents overheating, ensuring that your microwave operates efficiently and safely.

Over time, the grill vent can become clogged with grease and food particles, reducing its effectiveness and potentially causing the microwave to overheat. In addition, physical damage, such as warping or cracking, can occur from exposure to high temperatures or accidental impact.

Symptoms of a bad Grill Vent include:

  • Reduced effectiveness in venting steam and heat
  • The microwave becoming excessively hot to the touch
  • Unpleasant odors due to trapped grease and food particles
  • Visible damage or deformation of the vent grill

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

David, It could be an issue in the ERC/Clock transformer, but that's a bit of a stretch. You may want to start by checking the power supply at the outlet and terminal block. Electrical power is pretty much instantaneous As soon as proper power is applied, the ERC/Clock display should illuminate and need to be reset.

It can be caused a problem with the temperature sensor but usually this is caused by a stuck bake/broil relay on the control board.

Hernando, unfortunately, a refrigerator will cause a GFCI outlet to trip when it goes into a defrost mode due to how a refrigerator operates normally. Plugging the refrigerator into an outlet without a GFCI would be the best solution.
