David Lassalle December 12, 2018 for Model Number JJW9630DDB The halogen light has burnt out apparently. This is the lower oven on the model as indicated. The light in the upper oven is fine. Which assembly is it?AP6011167 or AP6011238? The only visible difference between the two in the picture of parts is that one has a longer cord.
1 Answer David, If the serial number of the model begins with 10 to 19 the correct halogen lamp would be part number 74004521 and if the serial is 20 or higher then you would use WP74009970. Read More...
Nick Peterson August 20, 2017 for Model Number 665.78002803 It turns out that I found a simple and direct way to access the bulb within the Lamp Mounting Assembly (Part # WP74009970). The assembly consists of a metal body with a glass front cover. The glass is held on by two pairs of metal fingers, one pair on each side. All I had to do was to pry up the fingers on one side, using a flat blade such as a pocket-knife, and the glass front came right off. Access and change the bulb, and snap the cover back in place. Please post this so other people will know.
1 Answer Nick, You must also remember, halogen lamp bulbs don't react well to the body oils and moisture in the skin. You need to wear gloves or use a paper towel when installing the replacement bulb. The moisture or oils cause the light bulb to "burn out" prematurely and will need to be replaced sooner than usual. Nick Peterson July 17, 2017 for Model Number Kenmore Model 665.78002803 Still unclear on how to access the bulb within the Lamp Mounting Assembly. Lamp-frame assembly OEM Part # is WP74009970. I can remove the frame from the oven, but I don't know how to open the cover (without breaking it) to change the bulb, or how to put back the cover afterwards. Advice? Or, better still, a video? Thanks.
1 Answer Nick, The bulb inside the lamp assembly WP74009970 would not be able to be replaced individually and would have to replace the lamp assembly. Read More...
David November 17, 2015 for Model Number JJW9527DDB I need to replace the halogen light bulb in the oven. Can you tell me the volts and wattage of this light bulb?

Andy March 27, 2014 for Model Number Jdr8895aas I purchased Part #74009970 and installed it. However, the oven light still does not work. I have noticed the number on the new wiring harness is 002; while the number on the original wiring harness is 004. I also noticed when the upper oven door is open, there is a dbl beep when attempting to turn on the light. However, there is only a single beep when I try the same operation with the lower oven (which has a functioning oven light).
1 Answer Andy, With the upper light not working with a new halogen bulb in it, the issue would be in the control board causing the light not to work. Read More...

Jay May 02, 2013 for Model Number MGR6875ADB26 The wire broke off at the socket. If I buy a new light assembly, can I cut the wires and wire nut the new assembly in place or do I have to take everything apart and plug in the new one? If I do use wire nuts or electrical tape, do I need special nuts or tape? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Jay. You can splice these, but you will need to use ceramic wire nuts and make sure no wires can touch metal. It is best to do without splicing, but can be done. Read More...
Jelisa December 29, 2012 for Model Number 74009970 Can this be taken apart and just the bulb replaced?
1 Answer Hello Jelisa, You can just replace the bulb, but there is a reason the manufacturer sell it like this. Cooking grease tends to accumulate in and on the assemblies and causes problems worse than a burned out bulb. Also, if you touch this type of bulb with your fingers, it will cause the bulb to blow prematurely. If you try changing just the bulb, you have to use a paper towel to prevent the oil from your skin form ever contacting the bulb. Read More...
