Wigberto Gonzalez October 28, 2023 for Model Number Kenmore 106.5814.801 and filter number 4609083 Hello. Recently I tried to change the water filter on the refrigerator. But the new filter does not fit or fill with water and on the contrary it dumps the water out. If I remove the clamps, it fits but the water leaks out since it doesn't seal. The filter model is correct and I tried two different ones and the problem repeats itself.
1 Answer Wigberto, With the filter not going into the filter housing, the filter housing would need to be replaced and is part number WPW10121138. Read More...
Jellybean October 08, 2023 for Model Number 10656689501 In replacing the filter housing, I cut both the inlet and the outlet tube from the old filter to remove it. After removing I noticed that there is a nipple at the end of the inlet line but nothing special at the start of the outlet line. I called AppliancePartsPros and the helpful lady ordered Part #: WPW10350006 (AP6020115) for the inlet line. When I checked, it says that the above part is not for this model. I am waiting to receive the part and will see if it works. Questions: 1. What part do I need that goes from the water inlet valve to the inlet of the filter housing for this Kenmore Elite model if the above is not the correct one? 2. Do I need any special tube for the outlet line from the filter housing back to the inlet valve assembly for filtered water (apparently there is no part available) or can I just use the same tube because it will stay tight in the filter housing outlet because of compression? 3. Is there a part or a way to bypass the entire filter housing by installing an adapter that routes the water out of the inlet valve and channels it into the water feeder lines of the fridge? Any down side besides impurities in that? Thank you!
1 Answer JellyBean, Check the part upon arrival as it will likely be correct..sometimes the compatibility tool will say it is not if that part is not listed in our database for that model and/or revision. Read More...
Dave E September 23, 2022 for Model Number ASD2522VRS00 We use the in-door water dispenser A LOT. Recently I was filling a glass up with water and a noise started coming out of the bottom of the fridge where the water filter housing is located. I didn't see water until after the evaporator condensate pan below the freezer filled up, overflowed and water started coming out on the floor at my feet. I turned off the water supply valve, removed the filter, reopened the water valve and no water leakage, everything back to normal. So, am I correct in thinking I replace the water filter housing as the fix for the water leak? Thank you for your time!
1 Answer Dave, Yes, this issue does sound like it would be caused by a faulty water filter housing that will need to be replaced. Read More...
Chris August 01, 2021 for Model Number GD5RVAXVB05 WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WPW10121138 VS WPW10121140. Can I use WPW10121140 IF I have WPW10121138. Would I have to use a different filter then? Thanks Chris
1 Answer Chris, there is a difference in the mounting brackets. It would be recommended that the manufacturer specified filter housing WPW10121138 is used with this model. Read More...
Jimmy December 16, 2020 for Model Number ed5lhaxwq00 Hi. This refrigerator had been sitting for several years unused but with power. I recently changed the filter and have lost pressure, no ice and what pressure it does have only lasts a few seconds. I've read the housing is usually the culprit. I have the housing saved on your site but wanted to see if this would be recommended and if other parts would be needed with the housing as well. Thanks!
1 Answer Jimmy, Yes, this issue will most likely be caused by a faulty filter housing which will need to be replaced. Read More...
Matt February 14, 2020 for Model Number Ed5fhexvb01 Hi - I used your fantastic video to replace the water filter housing on my Whirlpool refrigerator. However when I disconnected the two hoses from the old housing, I pulled a little bit on the smaller hose and it came out from the fridge in my hand. I can have reconnected it to the new water filter housing just fine, but I have no idea where the other end of that hose is supposed to go underneath the refrigerator. Can you help? Thanks.
1 Answer Matt, the other end of the hose is going to attach to the valve in the back of the unit. Read More...
Stephen August 21, 2019 Water filter eject button doesnt seem to work & after installing new filter cap sticks out beyond grill

Kara May 03, 2019 I replaced the housing filter W10121138 however, the tube that goes from housing filter to the valve (bigger/thicker one of the two) is cracked. Not able to find that tube on the site. Can you please point to the tube? there are two tubes that go into the housing filter assembly to valve, i am referring to the top one (thicker of the two) which connects to the bottom of the valve. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Kara, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Matt May 08, 2018 Where can I get the locking tabs for the water inlet tube going into the housing? I just got a brand new housing and it's still leaking. It's almost like the o-ring is not big enough. I was going to try a new locking tab otherwise just caulk the tube in.
1 Answer Hello Matt. You have to get the housing for the tabs. They are not available separately. Try checking the hose and see if it is bad and is causing your issue with the unit. Thank you. Read More...
Chad Kendall April 19, 2018 for Model Number ED5JHEXTB00 I bought this replacement part because my old one was leaking at the o-rings of the housing. The new one is doing the SAME THING!! It's leaking right where the lines go into the housing. I've tried cutting 1/4" off of the line and re-inserting it and it's still leaking! Did I get a bad water filter housing by chance? What should I do now? I really don't want to call a repairman.
1 Answer Chad, Wouldn't expect you to need another filter housing. Check and make sure the end of the tubes are cut straight and perpendicular to the tube. Make sure there are no burrs, nicks, or debris. make sure the tubes aren't twisted, creased or collapsed, etc. When you install the tubes to the filter housing, press down/in on the collar, insert the tube as far as possible, then release the collar. slightly tug out on the water tube(this seats the seals and the locking tabs) then turn the water on and check for leaks.
