The Oven Igniter is an OEM part for Whirlpool gas ranges. It is responsible for generating the spark needed to ignite the gas burner.

Causes can be standard wear and tear on the delicate metallic coil. Additionally, food or liquid spills may lead to premature breakdown or surface corrosion.

Symptoms of a faulty igniter include:

  • Oven or burners failing to turn on or stay lit
  • Requires repeated attempts at ignition before activating
  • No spark or glow seen through the observation window

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Oven Igniter (Part Number: OEM18058722)

Chris for Model Number wgg555s0bs01

Can anyone explain the difference between these two igniters other than the 1st has a female connector and the 2nd is a male? I went to replace the upper oven igniter and found the connector is female but the part I received is male. Can I just splice the female connector to the part ending 6211 and use it on the upper oven? I feel like I'm missing something since one part is ~$150 more than the other but they look identical. https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-igniter-gas-gemini-wpw10324738-ap6019571.html https://www.appliancepartspros.com/whirlpool-igntr-oven-w11596211-ap7193202.html

Chris, Aside from the connector and possibly the mounting bracket, there would be no difference. You can just simply splice the wiring together.

I'm working on my Maytag double oven gas range. The upper oven is having the issues not fully heating and I watched the ignitor and seems low, so I purchased this one. The connector for the part I received is different than the connector on my oven. Do I have the right part but it has to be hardwired using ceramic wire nuts or is there a different option that has the correct connectors? the wires on the part I received are much shorter than the ones on my oven and the connector on the existing ignitor has 2 female intakes. The one I received has 2 prongs. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello. I have a Whirlpool 6.0 Cu. Ft. Gas Double Oven Range with EZ-2-Lift™ Hinged Grates, Model #WGG745S0FS02. Both top and bottom oven have no heat. The broiler has a little glow. I checked the gas regulator and it is in the "ON" position. The cooktop works, so the oven igniter must be bad. According to the Whirlpool site, the Bake or Broil Igniter OEM part #WP7432P143-60 (your part #AP6011350) has a plastic connector is male. The Gas oven igniter OEM part #WPW10324738 (your part #AP6019571) has a female plug end. Will I need both these igniters to replace the ones in the top and bottom oven? Thanks in advance.
