The Dispenser Cap is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It covers the detergent dispenser, ensuring that the detergent remains securely in place until it is dispensed during the wash cycle. This cap plays a vital role in the cleaning process by preventing detergent from spilling or dispersing too early, thereby optimizing the efficiency of the dishwasher.

Over time, the dispenser cap can become worn or damaged due to regular use, exposure to detergents, or accidental impacts. If the cap is compromised, it can lead to detergent leakage and ineffective cleaning.

Symptoms of a bad dispenser cap include:

  • Detergent not dispensing properly
  • Residual detergent left in the dispenser after the cycle
  • Leaks or drips around the dispenser area
  • Inefficient cleaning of dishes

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Sheila, the gasket in question would not be available separately. The manufacturer has the gasket and the cap only available as part of the entire dispenser assembly [WP8558129].

Janice for Model Number kenmore elite 665.1679200

The rinse aid cap fell off and melted. When I tried to get a new cap, they told me I need a new assembly and there is no option to buy only the cap. Online, it says that my assembly (8269121) has been replaced with Whirlpool assembly WP8558129. There is an option to replace just the cap for the whirlpool assembly. Do you think I could just buy this replacement cap for the whirlpool since it is a replacement for the one I have? I dont want to have to install a new assembly just for the cap. thanks Janice

Hello Janice. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Steve, Unfortunately this is not an issue that we have heard of but also make sure that the setting on the inside of the dispenser under the cap is not fully open as this could cause the issue to occur. There should be numbers and a small arrow that the smaller number means a less amount. It could also be a issue with the dispenser itself.

Elle, The rinse cap gasket would not have anything to do with the rinse aid not dispensing. The things that would cause this would be a bad dispenser assembly, bad wiring or a faulty control board. The most likely cause would be the dispenser.
