The Dryer Door Switch Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This component is responsible for detecting when the dryer door is open to prevent the dryer from operating during this state. It ensures safety and energy efficiency by halting the drying cycle if the door is accidentally opened, preventing heat loss and potential hazards.

Causes for a malfunctioning dryer door switch assembly include physical damage from slamming the dryer door, wear and tear from regular use, or electrical issues that impair its function.

Symptoms of a bad Dryer Door Switch Assembly include:

  • Dryer not starting when the door is closed
  • Dryer continuing to operate when the door is opened
  • The dryer starting intermittently or requiring the door to be slammed to start

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

I have a whirlpool 120 volt compact dryer. Have checked all the parts I could, everything seems ok. I can run the dryer with the door switch held closed, it works fine. If I close the door, the heating element quits working, but everything else is ok. any ideas of what to look for? The door sw is good. Could the door be shorting something out, don't know how, but element quits heating. any help would be great. Don't know what part to order if I can't find any that are bad. Thank you
