This door lever actuates the latch/switch when the door closes. If it's worn or broken, the appliance may not sense a closed door and won't start. Replacing it restores proper door engagement and safe, reliable operation. What it does:

  • Engages the door latch/switch mechanism so the control knows the door is closed
  • Helps ensure the unit only runs with the door fully shut
  • Replaces cracked, bent, or missing levers that prevent proper door sensing
  • Common symptoms: won't start, must hold/push door to run, "door open" indicator stays on
What's included:
  • 1 door lever
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Access the latch/switch area; note the original lever's orientation and any spring
  • Transfer and reuse existing hardware if needed; install the new lever in the same position
  • Close the door and test for proper start/stop operation

For Whirlpool Door Lever (Part Number: OEM18025254)

Joseph for Model Number Amana NFW7200TW

I have the Amana washer NFW7200TW. The plastic door strike is split. Your part AP4044741 looks to be the exact part I need, down to the color according to your pictures. However, I am wary, because I have already ordered this same part (#34001260) from 3 different companies (all used the same pics as yours), and what I got was something similar- dark gray door strike with raised bevels (almost like 2 raised edges). They do not fit correctly and do not lie flush when closed. Therefore, the locking mechanism doesn't properly close the door. I am about to go insane! Can you definitely guarantee your part AP4044741 is the one in the pic- light cream color?

Jospeh, the door latch, WP34001260, is gray in color. According to the model number given this is the original latch and should work on your model with no issues. Thanks.

Theresa, You will need to remove the top cover of the washer and with the cover off and power disconnected, Reach down where the latch assembly is and there will be a tab toward the bottom that you can pull on which will release the door lock assembly. The door lock assembly will most likely be the cause of the unit not unlocking the door.

Laura, The part you'll need is the latch/switch assembly WP8182634, The latch is located on the inside of the front panel. You will need to remove the top panel, control panel, remove the boot from the door opening, then remove the screws holding the panel at the top bracket and lower cabinet, then disconnect the wiring from the latch assembly, and remove the front panel.
